Old Brickyard Golf Course
About
Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Very, Very Challenging Hole Photo submitted by fryersroost on 05/08/2013
We play this course many time after the freeze cause if the challenge. The winter repairs to this course are absolutely awesome!! These guys got it done, just praying ok mr winter has mercy this year.
worth the trip
This course has rebounded nicely from the bad weather this past winter. Thank you to the groundskeeping crew. They did a great job getting the course playable again. The course is very challenging with blind tee shots,.must be able to hit the driver good to be in position to hit approach shots to the green. The greens are in good shape.highly recommend this course
Fine for a deal
Not a great course, but for $25 we were in. Course is ok, not great. Staff are nice. Good when there’s a deal, but not looking to come back here.
Great Rebound
We played the Brickyard earlier this year. The course was in poor condition. - victim of the hard cold and ice of winter. In talking to the office, we told them that we didn't think the course could recover. They told us that they were starting the rebuilding of the tee boxes and greens the following week.
We were amazed at the conditions of the course today. There were almost no signs that Old Man Winter ever threw his worst at it. While the weather has been dry in North Texas this Summer, you would never know it looking at the course.
Great Job. Thanks,!!
Good unique course. Great value
Good course layout, especially the back nine. Fairly good condition although there’s room for improvement. Great bang for the buck. We’ll play it again. Nit a 5 start like the last few reviews on here but definitely not a 1 start. If you want an affordable fun round, check it out.
Wow , what an improvement
The greens were fantastic, the fairways and tee boxes were great. They sure bounced back from the freeze. !!
Good Course Good Value
Staff was great. Course was good as it could be after lst winter. Greens were surprisingly fast (9). Had a good time! Hole 10 is hard but real cool.
Old Brickyard is back
Old Brickyard is back. We played just before they closed half of the course because of the severe cold weather. Lots of damage. They have worked hard putting in new sod. Wow! Good job guys. We will be back.
Great Time at The Old Brickyard
Played Sunday morning at 10:30 finished in 4 hours 10 minutes. Course was in good shape, greens were well above average compared to the others courses I have played in the last 45 days. I think its one of the best priced value around, $35 for prime time weekend green fee is by far the cheapest of any other course in the area. Really like the new cart fleet they have, I ask the guy behind the counter in the pro shop and he said they were 3 weeks old. Least to say my group will be back, we had a great time.
New Greens are Good
Played Sunday morning with a couple of friends to see how the new greens turned out after they resprigged most of them 7 weeks ago. They are great, still have a couple of spots that they are still working on but overall I was impressed. Booked another tee time for next weekend before i left.
Remodeled Greens are Amazing!!!
I received an email earlier in the week saying the golf course has reopened all 18 holes after replanting the greens and several tee boxes in late June. I went out there with little expectations because I knew how much grass they lost from the ice storm. All I can say is WOW, they have done a fantastic job and they once again, have some of the best greens around. I don't know who the greens superintendent is but he did one heck of a job. Sure is nice being able to tee off on a hole and you cannot find a divot anywhere because the tees are brand new. Liked it so much, going back again this weekend.
