Old Brickyard Golf Course
About
Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Very, Very Challenging Hole Photo submitted by fryersroost on 05/08/2013
Course Construction
Beginning the week of June 15 the course will be re-sodding several tee boxes where the grass was killed from the winter storm. On June 23 we will be closing 9 holes to replant grass on several of the greens. We apologize that this process has been delayed but because of all the rain in May we were unable to get grass delivered from the sod farms. This process will take 6 weeks to complete but we will have 9 holes open for play during this process. Rest assured were are doing everything we can to bring the course back to the conditions you expect and expect to have all 18 holes open for play again by the first week of August.
Damaged by nature
Course damage by nature. Greens have bare spots in numerous spots. Was still fast. Have played this course numerous time, always fun and challenging to play but its under the weather at the moment
Worst Course I’ve ever played
Green and fairways were dead. Course is almost unplayable. Putting almost impossible on some holes. Greens should be called browns. Some hole didn’t have even a patch of green on the greens. Tee boxes were in awful shape. Shame because the holes are designed pretty well. Wouldn’t even pay $20 to play here let alone 45
Use to be the best course around
Not sure what happened here always been great but something recently killed all the fairways and greens course was in poor shape.
Still a fun course
I really like the layout of OBCG. They are working on repairing damage from the winter storm so hopefully it gets back to having nice greens and fairways soon.
Don’t play
Conditions are so bad you can’t even cut most holes. I played it when it’s been pretty good it’s unplayable now. It’s not worth 20 bucks
Throw in the towel
They have completely given up. This used to be one of our favorite places to play. Haven’t played it in about a month or two, and could not believe my eyes when we played last.
Zero grass basically across the whole course- especially the greens and tee boxes. They blame it on the winter storm, yet you can tell they haven’t touched the rest of the course. Where there is grass, it’s weeds up to your knees.
Either completely shut down while you repair so you can save your reputation, or if you still need some cash flow, do bot pay full price for what we just played. What an embarrassment. Worst course in dfw without a doubt.
Only positive thing I can say is about the pace of play. Mostly because no one in their right mind will play this right now. But also if you get 37,38, or a few higher numbered carts— they are extremely fast.
I truly do hope they can turn it around because I love the layout... but it may be a few years (or if they get new management)
Great course
The winter storm did a lot of damage but they have plans to bring the course back into great shape. I enjoy this course so I hope all the plans work out.
Terrible
Course is in terrible shape. Some greens have zero grass on them.. Tee boxes are all dead too.
Course conditions are very poor
Course conditions were impacted by the February weather and has NOT recovered at all.
Good course
The course is good overall. Greens need some work, lots of bare spots.
Awesome Layout
This course layout is awesome but the actual course could use some love. The greens weren't too bad. If there were money tossed into this course it would rocket to the top.
With all that being said it's a course worth playing.
Great lay out! Terrible condition!
Awesome challenging holes and elevation changes! But the greens were all super dead.

I guess you did you read the signs posted in the golf carts and around the clubhouse informing you that they were resodding 19 different tee boxes and that after that they would address the damage done to the greens once they had warmer weather to grow it in. With 19 inches of rain in the month of May no one can do anything because of this crazy weather. They, along with most of the golf courses in Texas suffered damage from the Ice storm. Management told me that there install date has been pushed back 3 times because the sod farm can't cut the grass to deliver it. Have some patience and a little grace and judge them on what it looks like after they have replaced the lost grass from the winter storm.
