Great scenery at this golf wilderness preserve.
Had a great round of golf. Saw 3 deer. The island green (hole #4) is pretty cool. Very friendly staff. The course experienced damage due to the heavy rains this summer, but the maintenance crew is working very hard to get the course back in good playable condition. This is a course management course not a long ball hitters course. Definitely recommend trying this course once...if just for the wildlife and the island green.
Course needs help
This course could have been fun if it were maintained. The greens were in such poor shape at times it would been better to just pick up. Many of the greens had dirt instead of grass.
Grass was overgrown in many of the fairways. We had to move our balls as the grounds keeper continued to mow the fairway despite the fact that we were trying to play golf.
Great value and a pleasure to boot!
River Ridge is a really nice golf experience for players of most skill levels. For a "shorter" course, it plays with ample challenge that works for men and women of every capability. Multiple tee options offer young and old and in betweens, plenty of choice. The course right now is transitioning from summer to "winter" golf conditions and has been aerated and overseeded. It still is a work in progress but coming along nicely.
This will be a great little when it is done from being brought back into shape
This course is in the middle of town but is for the most part removed from housing. It is a little short up front and stretches out in the back. Play is tight but not to bad.( I did appreciate the notes they gave on the layout and play for newbies) They are doing some seeding right now so the course is a little shaggy. It will be great when its done but looks like it had a stretch of some less than needed attention. Overall the course is playable.
This course has good features
While this course has lots of water and most holes flanked by woods, it is not long and is enjoyable and has some interesting
hole layouts, my favorite being the #4 island par 3. The staff is friendly but the course needs work, which they are attempting to
fix especially the greens which are in below average condition.
In all I enjoy the course for the money and am looking forward to
playing there when repairs are completed.
good deal
played oct 7. course is in good condition for this time of year.
Green's need work.
I have played this course many times over the last 8yrs. The staff is always very friendly, and helpfull.
like the nature trails
like seeing the deer and wild animals, real country setting.
Interesting course, some unusual holes.
The course has a couple of drivable par 4's as well as an island hole - #4 - and the 17th is an unusual par 5 that many different strategies can be used. Starter very helpful about giving some advice.
Good value for the money but that's about it
This course has two very challenging holes and the rest are either super easy or easy. The course is old and it shows, but for the cost, this is a good place for a low key round.
good value for money
Not recommended for lower handicaps - some interesting holes although not in great condition . Great for juniors. Bar and shop staff very helpful.
very ough shape
holes were being worked on, had to guess which hole to play on 4 and 5. one hole had 2 flags on it could not tell why? very rough shape on the whole course! needs lots of work!
Challenging short course through Florida wetlands
Short course but challenging. Front nine short but accuracy is a must. The back nice allows use of driver on at least three holes playing from the blues. Confusion exist as to where to go after 3rd hole. If you have never played this course you can have a really hard time figuring out where hole number 4 is. Lots of wildlife, water and woods to contend with. Between the alligators, birds, squirrels and even deer grazing on rough around edge of #12 green while we were putting, you still get in a challenging round of golf. If you want to work on your iron play this one will work, if you are a driver fanatic looking to pound out as much distance as possible I suggest you go elsewhere.
Course is in bad shape!
You get what you pay for here. Price was cheap but, now I know why as course is in bad shape. Fairways are overgrown , and full of holes and dead spots and the Greens! Wow some of the worst shape greens I've ever seen. Even for cheap price, I won't go back
My experience with River Ridge Golf
Good course for the "older" demographic. Not too challenging but shots must be placed in order to score well. Front nine is more of the "executive" type whereas the back nine is more open. Overall good value for the money.
Some pretty weird holes...
We didn't realize it was an executive course when picking up the tee time, so it was a bit of a different experience than I'm used to. It's a par 68, but that's pretty generous (considering that three par 5's measure in at 400 yards or less). Everyone at the course was great, and the course was fine for what it is: a very short course seemingly geared toward an older demographic. Back nine for us was better than the front. Portions of the course are extremely narrow, and a couple of holes in particular are simply unplayable, in the sense of traditional golf, as they are currently designed. For example, #17 is a very short par 5, a dogleg that might be driveable for some but too tight for the risk, and longer hitters will end up taking a wedge off the tee. On another hole, I believe it was #9, there is simply no landing area... not sure how you're supposed to play the hole... fairway is 14 yards wide at its narrowest point (I checked it out on Google Earth) and it's a 90 degree dogleg that means another wedge off the tee... trees are too tall to really go at the green... just kind of weird. The course regulars probably have it down, but taking wedges off the tee off multiple par 4's and 5's is just a different brand of golf that what I'm used to.
Watch for intentionally misaligned tees, and be careful that you don't accidentally skip holes 4 and 5. Kind of like a weird date where you get home and ask yourself what just happened, I find myself oddly drawn to return to see the little quirks again. Many players will find that they don't need more than a couple of clubs to play the course, and if you find yourself wanting to grip it and rip it, this might not be the right course for you. But it's interesting, quirky and fun.
decent course
It was a enjoyable round of golf. the staff was friendly and helpful.
Love the wildlife
The course was short but very challenging. Ideal course for seniors. The wildlife added to the experience. The only complaint is that it cost about 40 percent more to book it online than what we would have paid at the golf course.
Really like this course
Can be a little slow. Marshal needs to remind playres to keep up their pace. Still really like the course.
Don't let the length of this course full you. Need well placed shots for there is trouble every place.
Tricky course. First time playing is a learning lesson for course management. Make sure you see starter for guide, you will need it or else bring a lot of golf balls.
