El Rio Golf Club
About
El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. El Rio Golf Course has a pace of play that makes it convenient if you're looking for a quick round and the layout is gentle enough for beginners, and even junior players, to tackle with confidence.

It has grass!
When a lot of inexpensive courses in our area either don’t have grass or have lost their greens, we were pleasantly surprised that Del Rio is green and the greens were s little slow they were in good shape.
The course is a little rough with no starter so it gets backed up on a couple holes. It's dry and the ponds need water but easier to find your ball. lots of beginner golfers.
Great for Beginners
Staff very nice. Started on time. To play 18 holes in season for $52 is a deal. Other golfers relaxed. Really a great course to work on your short game.
Plan on delayed tee off
Tried this course a couple times because it is close and needed to avoid traffic. Afternoon tee times and each time was at least 20 min delayed. Waited this time and about 30 min late for cart availability. Would be a low end muni chip and putt most anywhere but its the busy snowbird season so overbooked as all the public courses in SW FL are . Good for people who have never played before.
El Crap-O
It’s a par 3 course from 1950. The “clubhouse” looked like my grandpa’s garage. The fairways are cow pastures and the tee boxes are dirt. We ended up leaving after 12 holes because of the pace of play. The average age on the course was probably 76 years old.
Fun, fast round
I did not know what to expect when I made this reservation. It was a pleasant surprise.
It is a short course, no par 5’s, and some of the par 4’s would be 3’s on a championship course, but we finished in 2.5 hours
