El Rio Golf Club
About
El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. El Rio Golf Course has a pace of play that makes it convenient if you're looking for a quick round and the layout is gentle enough for beginners, and even junior players, to tackle with confidence.

An excellent value for a fun, executive course! Nothing fancy, but still some challenges.
You get what you pay for
OK, this is a par 60 course (no par 5's) with a slope of 90. That should tell you enough if you are an experienced golfer. Tee boxes and greens were more than OK with the fairways less than OK. There are some sand traps, and a couple ponds, but also some par 4's under 200 yards. It feels like a 1970's course with some homes surrounding, and several holes next to each other. Easy enough to walk and perfect for a youngster or older player, but not much of a challenge if you have an index under 20. It was a bit slow for us, but we still finished in under 3 hours. Would I go again? Probably not, but that is not to say we didn't have a nice time. Just keep you expectations low, don't over dress, and go out there and get some birdies!
Nice shape and great value
The course was well planned and easy to follow, greens were very well prepared and tee boxes were also well maintained.A great value and enjoyable course.
Nice course
I have played this course many times. It's a fun course to play. Golfers of all skill levels can play. On the best shape I've seen it in a while but still could use a little more work!!
Nice to see grass on a course
Played with 2 foursomes. No waiting at all. Nice to see grass in the fairways. Forgot I was in Florida for a few hours. Greens were slow but fair.
El Rio Golf
the course was backed up from the very start 4 -2 somes were allowed out instead of playing as 4's, so it was slow.
Having a started , ranger, or having the check in person telling the 2's to join other 2's would be appropriate.
It has grass!
When a lot of inexpensive courses in our area either don’t have grass or have lost their greens, we were pleasantly surprised that Del Rio is green and the greens were s little slow they were in good shape.
The course is a little rough with no starter so it gets backed up on a couple holes. It's dry and the ponds need water but easier to find your ball. lots of beginner golfers.
Great for Beginners
Staff very nice. Started on time. To play 18 holes in season for $52 is a deal. Other golfers relaxed. Really a great course to work on your short game.
Plan on delayed tee off
Tried this course a couple times because it is close and needed to avoid traffic. Afternoon tee times and each time was at least 20 min delayed. Waited this time and about 30 min late for cart availability. Would be a low end muni chip and putt most anywhere but its the busy snowbird season so overbooked as all the public courses in SW FL are . Good for people who have never played before.
