El Rio Golf Club
About
El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. El Rio Golf Course has a pace of play that makes it convenient if you're looking for a quick round and the layout is gentle enough for beginners, and even junior players, to tackle with confidence.

Nice greens
Good fairways. Shots have to be well placed to avoud water or getting stynied behind trees near the cart paths. Greens r a little slow, play for a foot or two past the hole. Keep sand wedge handy around the greens. Driver can be used on a couple of holes keeping you interested. Enjoyable day out
good for a tune-up
Good place to practice par three tee shots!small raised greens reject close near misses.
Good value for the cost.
Fooled...
$40 / round for an exec course that is not maintained nor barely cared for is way off base. You could drive 10-15 minutes and pay $10 more to play a normal 18 hole course in way better condition. Oh, behold the course is littered with orange Home Depot buckets. What a sight. Sad day of golf.
Nice little. Purse, but get there early!
This is a well maintained par 3 course, a great place to work on your short game, but get there early. I played it twice as a twosome and first group out at dawn. We were done both times in about two hours, but when we were finishing there was a looonng line waiting to tee off. I played several courses in SW FL the 6 weeks we were here and this was the best maintained of any! Nice greens, real sand traps, and good fairways!
Great little course for the money
Course was in good shape considering no rain forever, nice little course for the price, staff is great.
Greens in good condition
Fun round. First executive experience. Put into friendly foursome. 3 hr round. Good for working on your iron and short game. Greens were in good shape considering how dry it is here.
El Rio
Fairways and greens were good but tee boxes need work. Pace of play was terrible, took ove 4 hours for a par 60 Executuve course.
Very nice layout.
This was our second time playing here and both times was a good experience. Nice layout and easy to get around.
course was ok but rather "tight",,,,,fairways were close to each other causing one to watch other player not in your group play to avoid being hit by their balls. had to wait for a cart for over 15 minutes past our tee time. did not like that we were paired with 2 other players we did not know leaving me to be the only woman in the foursome. it was not as enjoyable as it could have been if we would have been paired with a "couple:"
Pretty scenic course
Course was tight in spots. Hot weather made for some golfers to try to push play. Course packed past full but play was steady. really pretty vegetation and layout of water
Amazing little course
I was so surprised a hidden gem amazing greens
I have a winter home in Ft Myers Beach
And played some expensive courses. We were in the area that day and wanted to get a round in. Took a chance, surprise an amazing course
Try it!!!
Peak time bargain
January through March are peak times in Florida and bargains are few. I booked this course due to price;you get what you pay for. Backups were constant, due to nature of par 3 courses. The greens were slow and hard to judge how firm to strike the ball . It was an ok course. I probably won't return.
Good for seniors
Very short course. No par 5 s and the par 4 s were very short. But a good place for a couple of seniors in their late 70 s. The fairways are a little close so watch out for golfers coming at in other fairways. Had to wait some time for a cart. They really need more carts. Greens putt slow compared to what I am used to. Course gets a lot of play so be prepared to wait some between shots. But, we had a great time just being out there.
