About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Overbooked
Good course. Round took almost 5 hours because it was overbooked
Love it!
The course is fantastic for the price, greens are good, fairways okay, this course can be challenging, the only problem is there is no rangers to tell people to stay away from riding your carts up so close to the greens , I guess some people are just plain old ignorant and lazy. The clubhouse needs a lot of work but the food is great and the drinks are cheap. so if all you care about is playing a fun course at a very reasonable price this is the course for you.
Course needs some investment
Have played this course frequently. Love the layout. The greens are great. That is where it ends. Fairways bare and thin. Bunkers no drainage and need sand. No course ranger left after hole 14 a6 some was playing up ahead causing a giant back up. Unfortunately, this great layout in this great course is deteriorating rapidly as nobody is putting any money into it. Sad.
They will probably sell out to a developer when the time comes

Why are there 30 people waiting at the 1st tee?
Not sure how you have a starter and end up with at least 8 groups piled up on the first tee waiting to start. Tee time was 10:06, didn't start until 10:45 then 5hr 10min to play 18 holes, literally waited on EVERY shot. Course in pretty good shape all around.
Tough course
The night is very manageable but when you get to the back, you better have your stuff
Real golf
Excellent Desmond Muirhead design on a course that's not built for neighborhood real estate views. Plenty of interesting holes that will not bore you. Excellent greens with all other conditions typically good for this time of year. Yes, the cart paths and on-course restroom facilities are terrible, but won't interfere with your game. Great value on a real golf course.

Played this course 5 times. Great value on GN. Friendly staff in shop and starter. Great bev cart girls. Greens were great. Tees and fairways good. They need more rakes by the bunkers. Would definitely recommend this course to any golfer of all skill levels.
