Country Club of Silver Springs Shores
About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Needs work
Only reason I gave it a two is because the greens are a nice shape. There is no grass at all in any of the fairways or rough for that matter. Nice layout could be a very nice golf cart spend five or $10 more and play a nicer course.
Slowly deteriorating golf course.
Club house and grounds sorely in desperate need of a substantial influx of investment dollars. Greens are decent but fairways very thin. They might come back but not optimistic.
Potential of being a good club
Greens were in very good condition. Tee boxes were in fair/ good condition. Fairways were in poor condition as very little green grass, mostly brown with a few areas of dirt. It did seem like the fairways were recently watered as my ball on quite a few holes had quite a bit of mud on it. Restroom on front nine clean with all that is needed working. Back nine not very clean.it did appear to me that work is being done on some of the holes as workers were clearing brush and doing excavation in other areas. The overall course layout is a positive and hopefully the course with a little bit of care can be a fun and challenging time.
Lefty
Greens were perfect. Tees and fairways sparse. Bunkers good. Great layout. No starter but all went well on the first tee. Hole 19 was good. Will play again.
First round at Shores this year
Had a fun round on a nice day.
Fairways were pretty crispy, the course needs rain soon...
I actually wasn't in the fairway very often, but my playing partners commented on it, so i thought i'd mention it, haha.
Tee boxes, greens and bunkers were fun, and in overall good shape.
Will be back soon.
Worth playing
Challenging layout with many bunkers, water hazards and very challenging putting greens. Weaves around condos but a fair amount of neutral space between fairways and buildings. Greens were fast and very sloped.
No grass anywhere
Nice staff nice greens and everything else was TERRIBLE!! No grass in fairways or ruff, sad to pay 30$ not worth 5$
Faurways
The greens are perfect fairways in rough shape . I would go back once we ger some rain.
Cool local course
This is a cool local course . Greens are in great shape , great layout , prices are fair ,and natural landscapes . My only gripe is that tee times are not regulated at all. Booked an 8:30 tee time and had 3 groups waiting at the first hole , been out there multiple times and every time we have been behind multiple groups of 4 and 6 people , one time behind two groups of three playing together .
Shore do like the Shore country club!
This course is a reasonable local course with friendly service and fare prices. Highly recommended early tee times for maximum enjoyment.
OK needs work
Fairways need a lot of work particularly the front. Greens are nice so it's OK for the money.
Could be something
This course could be great with a little bit of work and instruction, Tell the golfers in the clubhouse to stay at least 100 feet off the greens and put up some signs that says no carts, These old and lazy golfers out there just drive right up almost on the green which intern kills all the grass around the greens. It makes me sick to see this, if you’re too old to walk 100 feet to the green quit playing golf and Ruining a golf course, the clubhouse and cart Paths are a completely different story, but I don’t care about that. I go there to play golf, but it’s difficult watching it get destroyed because of the lack of effort..
Good place
The nicest staff very professional good food and drinks
