About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Great course; and the crowds prove it
This is a great course and I love the challenging layout and putting greens. I've played this course many times; however my partner and I quit on the 14th hole due to slow pace of play. I haven't done that in years but is was that bad...5 1/2 hour round. From 14-18 there were 2; sometimes 3 groups on each hole. This is a course management issue, but the course itself is great.
CC at Silver Springs Shores
Very enjoyable round with my son. Having 5 tee boxes helps golfers of all abilities. There are a couple holes on the course that are as hard as any in all of Ocala, especially when the wind kicks up a bit. We had great service from the pro shop, snack bar/lounge and even the cart girl! I would suggest some repair work is needed on many of the cart paths, but overall the course was great.

I play this course quite often. It is a great place to spend an afternoon. However, that being said this place needs a lot of work on its infrastructure. Cart paths are a disaster. None the less I do not play golf on the cart paths. The course is a great layout and challenging.
Great course
The greens are always in good condition which is rare for any course in Florida that costs under $50 a round. Decent layout with some elevation changes. Long par 3s.
Good Condition right now
Course is in really good condition right now. In particular the greens. They have VERY soft greens so you can attack pins. Tee boxes are a bit busted up but I don’t really care about that personally. Fairways and bunkers are well kept. They have some good people working there and always have a bev cart.
Cart paths are a disaster and it’s one of the “bumpiest” courses we play. Riding in the golf cart can be a bit jarring. My biggest complaint is that they STACK tee times and the pace of play on weekend mornings is incredibly slow. They do have rangers but you rarely see them and they don’t ever do anything about the pace. They just drive around.
I would definitely recommend this course. It has so much potential to be an elite course.

This was my first time out after surgery. Course is in good condition, and I played fairly well considering I hadn't played in a while!
