About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Love this course in great shape. Can be slow always challenging
Can't beat the price
Great bargain. Good layout, smooth greens and fairways were good. Only real issue was the horrible condition of the cart path. The course is such a great value they could easily charge a little more and repair the cart paths.
Has the Important Stuff
Greens in excellent shape, fast and challenging. Nice layout, fairways in just OK shape with some very tight lies. Rough grass dead like most of central FL, but also a lot of bare spots. Afternoons are pretty quiet for this time of year and a bargain. Plenty of risk-reward. Golf shop attendant wore mask, but I've noticed it's not always the case. Did not go in the restaurant/bar but did so prior to Covid, It was pretty basic but friendly and adequate. Cart paths bone-jarring in places.
Fun course
We had a great time playing their the greens were great fairways were great the layout is really really nice the staff was really friendly and nice and helpful will be playing it again soon
Tremendous design
Course has awesome variety and great assortment of holes.
Surprised by elevation changes on many of the holes.
Fairways are a bit thin, and green sides are a bit rough..... but awesome course design trumps everything for me.
Cart paths are well overdue to be re-done.

Terrific course. Lots of challenging variety. Greens are HUGE with some significant breaks. Difficult to read but true. Go there. Play and enjoy.
Friendly Professional Staff
Very friendly and professional staff from check-in to ranger to bartender. Nice course layout, good variety of holes and challenges. Fairways were a little rough, but not terrible..greens were good. Would definately play again. Nice restaurant on site too. Lots of two-some and single players on course..tried to let singles play through, but didnt always make a difference. Players were friendly and cooperative too.
Five hours
This is a great course if you like playing behind a 5-some for 5 hours. I’ve never seen so many people driving their golf carts all up around the greens, it was like the Wild West. Greens are a little mushy and currently winter rye. The fairways are hit and miss, wet in some areas and dried out in others. I’m sure the course is ok for the locals but I will not drive an hour to play here again.
A thinking man course.
5 sets of tees to choose from. If you think you hit a long ball, you better be on your A game. Challenging shots over water, long holes, and plenty of traps to try and grab your ball as it makes its way to tbe green
And then there's the greens, all in good shape, no burnt or dead patches. Undulating greens that give you a trying par attempt.

The club house needs work lights where not on in the bathroom
The course is in really poor condition the only thing that was in good shape was the greens. The cart paths will knock your teeth lose . The fairways need grass it’s like hitting off dirt.
I am not going to play this course again.
