About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Always better than working
Another great day with good friends. Course was in good shape if only we could master the back nine. Lol.
Better Days are Yesterday
It's easy to see that this course was once fantastics. The layout is solid. The land is spectacular. The course is in decline. One thing that I notice in all golf course is the periphery care on the edges such as the cart paths. The paved paths are in terrible condition. The next items I notice is the condition of the traps. I would rate this course a 2 out of 5 for their care of the traps. The areas around the greens were spotty with grass. Too many bare spots. The greens were slow, not to my liking as a 1 handicapper. The price was the selling point, only $20 for the round with a cart, sadly, because that is what the round was worth. It's my second time playing the course and it does have its charm. For $20 I will go back. But if the price is more I'll find a better course to play

This has been the nicest, best kept up course I have played so far since moving to FL. Great value for the money. Definitely recommend others to play here.

Actual course was solid as I expected-perimeters needed some work- cart paths a little rough, lots of bare spots needing fill, greens were the slowest I've ever played them but still playable-problem today, computers down, start times not in sync, more play on course than what was told, caught group on #4 & waited every shot from that point on-quit on 17 due to rain & felt better drinking beer-waited 10 minutes
to hit 2nd shot on 17, rains came & no way to stay & finish!!
Surprised
Played on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised by this course. From the road I thought I had made a mistake, now real sign out front, but saw it on the way home. It looks like it’s 100 years old. But have to say the actual course was in great shape, and very challenging from back tee box . The lounge was a surprise as well, great deals and bartender, Kayla was great!
Great. Challenging course. Very nice shape. Thatchedverticut greens not to long ago. Still roll good. Will be real nice very soon. Set up well for season upcoming.
First time here
From the friendly staff, to the easy check in and run out to the first tee, my son and I had a great day of golf. The course layout was fun yet challenging. From the variety of tea boxes, to the wide fairways, and water across the course made it fun but kept challenging. My son just moved to the area, and we will be back!!
Hidden gem
Played this course for the first time today with a buddy. We both agreed ,great course, great condition . Greens ,fairways are fantastic. Rough isn't real punishing. Go out and enjoy this great course.
Kudos to the GM
Course was in good condition. Greens roiled very well. Fairways good. Had a timing mishap due to large tournament. GM Jay handled situation with great professionalism which lead to our foursome having an enjoyable round.
Always better than working
haven't played this course in about 10 years. Course is in great shape, forgot how challenging the back nine was. All in all a great day with great friends
Improving course. The staff was pleasant while checking in and the round of golf was enjoyable. Will be back.
Great Ocala/Marion course
Course is in good, but not great shape. New carts run great. Some soggy areas in the fairways due to recent rain. Fast greens minus #18. No crowds. Picked up a hot deal and was able to get a round for 4 at $76.
Better than expected
Played here a couple of times over the summer, and I noticed that there was a lot of maintenance going on each time. The overall improvement has been remarkable from then till now. Bunkers have been worked hard and play as well as any around. The Greens have been maintained as well as any I've played in Ocala. Fairways are green, with some weeds in spots, but overall they are very playable. Great value for the Hot Deal $.

Sorry you didn't approve of my rating. It was honest and others have said similar things about this course. I loved the layout. Quit being a keyboard warrior and let me know if you'd like to play with me at a course of your choosing. I'm up to play with you if you want to. I won't bash you even if your game isn't that good. I enjoy playing this great game with all fellow golfers.
Handicap 1?? No handicap on review. Maybe u need to play Augusta National. This is a great course in great shape. All reviews good except you'res. Things that make u go hmmm.
