About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Game improvement
Nice course to play and practice different shots. Water/ trees make you think about different shots and his to play them.
Making a comebac
It had been a year since I last played there, since then nice improvements, greens in good shape, fairways coming along, some improvements to the cart paths are welcomed, and new carts. This course has a great layout that can challenge golfers.
Nice improvements
I played this course in the summer of 2017, the confpditions were "rough", if it were not for the challenging layout I would not have returned, I was pleasantly surprised to see very great progress in making this course a very nice place to play, new carts, greens were in great shape, fairways are coming along, cart paths show good improvement. I will be back.
Nice course
Easy layout but has plenty of water. Course is starting to get run down. Could be a premier course with some maintenance.

very challenging course to play, but at the same tine it invite you to take chance .I really like the layout.be careful on hole 16 and18.
Great Course
Love this course. Generally not crowded and pace is great.
a good walk through nature
A great setting for a course, woods, ponds. A good layout with challenging holes. Several holes were a little tricky not knowing proper line off tee. Greens had lots of grass, but a bit grainy. Great value for $25.
Used to be one of the best golf tracts around. No more. Greens still ok. No grass in the fairways. A few sand traps actually have sand in them. The rest are hard dirt.

18 holes were great...19th hole, not so much.
Pro shop staff was wonderful. Course was in decent shape, and is a great layout. Bar/restaurant personnel left a lot to be desired. "Surly" shouldn't be the word that comes to mind!
Give it a try
I had an enjoyable day on a course that offers a chance to play a challenging layout with real character. Golf carts are new . The only drawback is the cart paths, but worth the rough ride.

New to area and course recommended. Enjoyed the course enjoyed the company, 3 other GolfNow golfers. Good course, greens, big and harder for afternoon round. Fairways good grass for winter conditions, lots of play this day but pace was consistant and will play this course again.
Fun layout-well stocked bar
Course has some challenging and tricky holes. The layout is great. Course is reasonably marked for yardage. Has a well stocked and reasonably priced bar too.
Challenging course
Very interesting layout. A lot of challenging holes but a lot of fun to play. I will go back and play the course when the weather gets warmer. It was windy, cold and rainy when I played.
If your interested in a challenge this course is a great course to play.
Still a good course
I was back in town for Christmas and wanted to play an old local favorite. I was not disappointed. The course was in good shape. A few greens had some bare spots but it was on the edges and very minimal. If you are looking for a more laidback round of golf without people everywhere hurrying along I highly recommend. New carts just arrived in November which is a big improvement.

Greens and traps in very good condion rest of course poor , still a great layout and a real good value . I would play again any day
