Golfer Reviews
Play there often
Been playing there over 5 to 6 years. Between the 9th and 10th hole is a patch of broken bumby cartpath. Should I bring a few bags of cement and fix it? It' Should be addressed by now. It comes up unnoticeable as your driving your cart then you hit it. Please advise them It could be dangerous
Rough shape
Yes we’ve had no rain for 3 months, but most golf courses sprinkle their courses. There was minimal grass on these fairways. Greens about a 3 on a ten scale. Needs water bad.
Ranger ignored slow play and our threesome jumped three holes. One twosome held up the entire course of play. Almost 5 hours to play 15 holes. Cheap for a reason. Too bad- great tract when cared for. Never again.
With A Bit Of Work,It Will Be A Nice Course
Fairways & Greens Need Some Work.
I Have Played Many Times Over The Years. This Is
First Year That Many On Course Changes Have
Been Taking Place. They Have A Good Layout & With
A Little TLC, It Will Be A Good Course.
Price Wise It’s A Great Course
Upsetting
This could be Palm City’s hidden gem. Layout and design is phenomenal, then you play. Been playing this course once a year for last 10 years and the course conditions just keep getting worse. This last time I played I brought a friend and j was embarrassed I brought him there. Tee boxes were acceptable but the weeds, the sand the lack of grass on the fairways and the greens?? Horrid! Felt like I was on a driving rage in the middle of a Texas small town. The cart paths are a enormous liability waiting to happen. Lastly, the golf carts.. These carts were riding extremely slow, and completely outdated .
Such a shame. Love the layout but poorly, real poorly maintained. We were watching people mow the fairways wondering what they were mowing! Should be $25 to play not $50.
Again, this very well could the Treasure Coasts hidden gem if someone puts money into it.
Course needs a lot of work. Most Fairways burnt out, no grass
Very poor conditions , needs to put money into maintenance of course instead of halfway house and very nice clubhouse.
Good layout but grossly neglected
I played Martin Downs under previous ownership and it suffered from neglect. The layout was solid and owner made no secret of plans to divest. It has been two years since takeover. Some effort has been invested in the greens - especially on the backside. A few tees have had minor improvements. Fairways have been ignored and are embarrassing. Given the conditions, greens fee should be no more than $40, including cart, ( which are in poor condition as well. Clubhouse has been spruced up and staff is nice. With a $million or two, invested in course conditioning, Martin Downs could be terrific - I am pulling for them.
Good course. Just need some rain
Dry now. Will get better. Friendly starters and bag men
The condition of the golf course is beyond bad and I realize the new owners have a lot of work to do do you boxes were terrible and no grass on the golf course particularly number 13 and 14 good luck will take at least five years
Good course but a lot of dried out spots
I paled 18 holes in late-March '23. I also play with a group on the front 9 every Thursday AM. The layout of the course is very good but right now this course and most others in the area are dried out. A lot of time fairway shots were off hard-pack. The back 9 played much better - it had been extra-irrigated for a pro-am tournament and was closer to being green. I will play this course again partly because it is reasonably priced compared to many others.
Weeds galore
I live in Martin Downs and it would be convenient to play this course more but not in its current condition. Greens have weeds; fairways full of weeds and looks like a hayfield; some of the tee boxes have no grass. Unfortunate its not been maintained well because Its a great layout. Not worth the money
course condition
I really like the layout but the course needs some maintenance because the fairways are in bad shape
Just a shame
It’s a shame. Just a beautiful layout for a golf course. Unfortunately it hasn’t been cared for in years. The greens are the only part of the course that have been cared for.
The tee boxes are dirt and the “fairways” are weeds and dirt. The owner seems to be spending all of his money on the clubhouse restaurant. Someone needs to tell him he owns a golf course and some money should be spent on it.
I know it’s only $50 but I wouldn’t go back there for free. As I said earlier, it’s a shame, what was once a beautiful course is now a dog track. Take your $50 and use it at a real golf course.
Terrible condition
I’ve been playing this course for many years every March and it’s always been in great shape. But this year it’s a completely different story. The fairways are burnt out and crabgrass is growing in tufts. The greens are 5 out of 10 and the tees are very poor. Obviously, the course can’t control Mother Nature and it desperately needs rain. But that being said, the greens fee should be $10 until the course improves. Either that or close it completely. Sorry to say this because I’ve always enjoyed Martin Downs.
