Not good
Showed up for a morning tee time with a friend. They put two 5-somes in front of us. One member of one of the 5-somes warned us they play really slow. We relayed this to manager and asked to tee off the 10th and we’re told no even though it was open. Massive construction going on. Many tees were just tee markers thrown in the heavy rough. One tee was a rubber mat. Many greens were in really bad shape. Bunkers were awful. Play was unbearably slow. Could not give them a low enough rating. Will not be back. Ever.
Great course but renovating
Loved the course can't wait until the course renovations are complete. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great course Great condition Great staff
The staff is always excellent with first class service. The course was in excellent condition except for one hole which is having a new tee box constructed. Pace of play was also very good. Love this course!
Greens are good!
Great value. Some spots are rough, but the greens are good. Really like the layout. Can’t beat 30 green fees on the weekend.
Crane watch
Great course, pace of play was good, staff is great.
New management course gone to pot, but greens ok
For the price of cart, the golf was just adequate. The range, rough, cart paths aprons around greens, are dog tracks. Greens surprisingly good. Used to be a real nice course and clubhouse. Must be having severe money problems. For the price of just the carts, I guess it’s playable. But, remember, you get what you pay for. However, the young girl behind the bar was sweet, hard working and cheerful. She said the men’s grill was closing but she’d get us a beer and wait until we were finished.
Very nice place to play
We usually play here several times a month year round and it is a nice golf course with even nicer people running it and working there.
Solid last-minute summer round
Martin County has as full a range of golf facilities as you're likely to find anywhere in the country. It has the highest of the high-end, like Michael Jordan's Grove XXIII and The Floridian. It also has its share of condo-complex golf and a muni that until recently was getting a bit run-down.
Formerly the Evergreen Club, Crane Watch has slid down a rung or two of that latter by virtue of no longer being private. But under new ownership, it seems to be on the upswing again as a semi-private facility. Residents who live in the houses around the course - each set on an acre of land - flock to play and hang out at the nicely appointed clubhouse. The course itself is mostly straightforward Florida golf, laid out east-west with small greens and a sometimes unusual assortment of bunker styles, pointing to the place still figuring out what it wants to be.
I would rank the course layout behind that of some of its nearby competitors, but the golf is good, conditions (especially the greens) are good and improving, the overall facilities are very nice and Sean, the Max Homa doppelganger/bag drop guy was one of the friendliest and most attentive I've encountered anywhere. That kid deserves a raise!
