Bay Point Resort - Nicklaus Course
About
Bay Point Golf Club's Nicklaus Course at Sheraton Bay Point Resort is the only Nicklaus Design course in Northwest Florida. The golf course was formerly Lagoon Legend, which had a reputation for being one of the Florida Panhandle's toughest layouts. In 2004, the golf course closed and underwent a major renovation by the Nicklaus Design team. It reopened a year later with rave reviews. The redesign included restructuring the tees, greens, and bunkers and also re-contouring the fairways. The scenic landscape of scrub oaks, towering pines, and saltwater marshes was carefully preserved though. The golf course maintained the challenging aspects of the original but infused a play-ability that makes it accessible to all skill levels. Also like the former course, the new Nicklaus design offers the same stunning views of St. Andrew's Bay. In the fall of 2018, the Nicklaus Course completed a greens conversion to Tif-Eagle Bermuda-grass greens to bring championship greens to a championship course. Bay Point Golf Club has won the Panama City News Herald's "Best of Bay" in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The Nicklaus Course has hosted US Open Local qualifiers and is a home course of the FSU Women's Golf Team and will host their Division 1 Invitational in February of 2020.

Nice course, quick greens
Course is in good condition for winter, the greens are very fast, roll nice and true, several greens are in rough shape (seems like grass is dead or bare patches) this might be a winter issue as I haven’t played here in the winter before, those greens that are damaged still roll nicely and don’t effect the putts much.
Great course, will definitely play again
A lot of water
In the parking lot the guy who took my bag said: "i hope you brought a lot of balls" I only lost one but i think it could have been much worse had i not been placed with 2 members who really knew the course.
Also, they were pretty good golfers who, I would guess, regularly shoot in the 80' and they were playing the 3/4 tee positions which are not the most difficult tees on the course. This too was good to know since I was playing with folks with knowledge of the course. Playing this course without help from them would have made it a very difficult and far less enjoyable round.
SANDY GREENS
I would think the course would have reduced their rate due to sandy greens. They did discount to the 2 guys in front of me, they paid 64.00.
I played consecutive days for same rate and greens were not as sandy on Tuesday as they were on Wednesday.
Starter on Tuesday was much nicer then starter on Wednesday.
The app they advertise didn't really offer any tips on where to play ball in relation to water, sand traps etc. Basic information and scorecard.
Nice January round
Nice course. Plenty of water and sand, but very manageable if you hit it straight. Greens are a little weathered, but not bad enough to affect play.
PCB Gem
Great track in very good condition, always play when I am in PCB area. Staff is very helpful and professional!!
Great course but fairways were rock hard
I really enjoyed this course but for some reason the fairways were hard as a rock, it made it hard to make a divot and hit the ball at the same time other than that a very nice course
Wish the weatherbeen better
Course was in great shape ! Got behind their Men's weekly scramble which slowed us down. Then the wind and temperatures dropped! We auit quit after 16 holes!
Good course.
I liked the layout and course conditions. The greens were generally in good shape. There were a few bare spots but it was January after all. I paid $60 and would have felt it better priced at $40-50. Staff was great. Played in about 4 hours but again it was January and late in the day. I’d play it again.
Great staff, good course
Staff was friendly, especially the starter. He did a great job with us and others playing that day, and accommodating our request to play together. I love certain holes on this course while others are rather average - most of all, the routing is just quirky sometimes. Course condition was good for winter and overall had a great time with family. I'll be back!
Challenging Course
We enjoyed playing this course, challenging, lots of sand, water and elevated greens. If you are in the area, it is worth playing
Nice course in good shape!
Have played this course over the years when wintering the cost has gone up after the area suffered thru Hurricane Michael but overall the value is good and the course in good shape. If in PCB I would recommend playing a round here.
Great course. Some hard jokes but overall enjoyable place to play
Nice course. Not the type of Nicklaus course that I have played in the past. Being from the North, I am not a fan of the grasses in Florida, but hey… it is golf in December!! Nice layout and the greens had nice, consistent speed. The tee boxes were a little rough and some of the fairways were as well. The staff we dealt with were AWESOME. My kids and I had two wonderful experiences.
