Bay Point Golf Club's Nicklaus Course at Sheraton Bay Point Resort is the only Nicklaus Design course in Northwest Florida. The golf course was formerly Lagoon Legend, which had a reputation for being one of the Florida Panhandle's toughest layouts. In 2004, the golf course closed and underwent a major renovation by the Nicklaus Design team. It reopened a year later with rave reviews. The redesign included restructuring the tees, greens, and bunkers and also re-contouring the fairways. The scenic landscape of scrub oaks, towering pines, and saltwater marshes was carefully preserved though. The golf course maintained the challenging aspects of the original but infused a play-ability that makes it accessible to all skill levels. Also like the former course, the new Nicklaus design offers the same stunning views of St. Andrew's Bay. In the fall of 2018, the Nicklaus Course completed a greens conversion to Tif-Eagle Bermuda-grass greens to bring championship greens to a championship course. Bay Point Golf Club has won the Panama City News Herald's "Best of Bay" in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The Nicklaus Course has hosted US Open Local qualifiers and is a home course of the FSU Women's Golf Team and will host their Division 1 Invitational in February of 2020.

Great layout with a few really cool holes.

Staff cranky

Conditions are poor even for winter months.

The pace of play was dismal and typical Florida no Ranger to move things around.

Baypoint Disappointment

Played this track a number of times and really enjoyed it. If you’re paying big bucks for a high end course, you expect the course to be in great shape however I was very disappointed to see the greens very slow and bumpy! Come on guys, don’t let this happen on a high end golf course.

Tough layout, a lot of water. Super fast, sloped greens. Some beautiful holes that were next to the bay! The green fees are too high for this time of year, should be $75 instead of $120. Cart guy wondering why business has been so slow…well…adjust green fees to reflect weather and off season conditions.

Beautiful, challenging golf course.

Got a great deal on Golf Now while on vacation here. Course was in great shape and was fun to play. Challenging, due to water on so many holes, but not ridiculous. Fairways, greens, tee boxes and cart paths were all in great shape.

Very disappointed

Arrived early for our tee time. Starter checked us in and sent us to the driving range.

He was letting walk on groups tee off ahead of us. My daughter asked me to go over by the starter. When I did he had just let another group in line in front of us.

He forgot that he already checked us in and asked for our starter sli again.

He then moved us in front of the group he just put in front of us.

We proceeded to play the slowest round we’ve ever played.

We were on pace for a 6 to 7 hour round. We had to quit after 14 holes to make to to my daughters (who was playing with me) birthday dinner.

We’ve always enjoyed playing here but not this time. My daughter plays college golf and was looking forward to returning here for a birthday round. Needless to say she was very disappointed - as was I.
