Lost Key Golf Club
About
Lost Key Golf Club is conveniently situated equidistant from the historic downtown area of Pensacola and the pristine white sand beaches of Orange Beach and the Gulf Shores. The Arnold Palmer-designed layout was Florida's first golf course to be certified as an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary. It underwent a major renovation in 2006 that included the addition of 2,200 native trees, 13,000 wetland plantings, and the resurfacing of the tees, greens, fairways, and rough. The golf course now presents a formidable test for even the most seasoned golfers. The greens are large and undulating and the flat fairways are lined with trees. There are also doglegs fairways on six holes and sand bunkers on several others. Lost Key Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 13th hole, which requires a tee shot over water to a partial island green that rolls across dramatic elevation changes.

Not a pleasant round
The course is maintained ok, but ok is it. Lots of bare spots that will only get worse. I could have overlooked all that except for the incredibly slow (and completely clueless) five some in front of us. Held up everyone - we caught them around #7, I mentioned to the starter at the turn and he said "it's Sunday". I don't know if that means course etiquette doesn't apply on Sunday, no ranger on Sunday or just wasn't concerned. But it made for a miserable day of waiting on every shot. And the five some always had an open hole ahead. It's too far too drive to drive for that kind of answer.
Lost ball is the nickname of this course.
Almost all the wooden bridges have boards that stick up and are in need of repair before they cause damage to carts and golfers. This course does not suit my style of play and requires one to be extremely accurate or you lose your ball, Nuffield said.
Very challenging course. Service/staff was excellent
Very challenging course. The service/staff was excellent
Beautiful course, but challenging for the average golfer
The course has some challenging holes, requires accurate shots to well guarded greens. A tight course if you spray the ball at all. When we played in mid April the greens were spotty which resulted in many bouncing putts, a definite negative. Having prior knowledge of where to land the ball would have been helpful.
Great course. Some cart paths need improvement for safety.
Overall the course was in very good condition. Although , being from Michigan, we were somewhat unfamiliar with the type of greens in the South. It took us a few holes to get the 'feel' of things with the roll on the greens. Lots of water and lots of sand made for a very educational round. The greens were fun to putt; each with its own character and unique fashion. I'd rank the overall course 8.5, reduced from a 9 only because of a couple 'tilted' spots along the cart paths that we considered could be hazardous to some drivers.
Very poor greens, poor fairways
The greens were in terrible condition. The fairways were not much better. This was not what I was used to in a Florida golf course. The courses in Missouri , where i was getting away from, were in much better shape, prior to the snow. I would not play there again, nor could I recomend it to anyone else. If you are comming down to Fla. or Alabama, skip this one.
Great southern hospitality!
Very scenic course, well maintained and good location near the FL/AL white beaches. People are very nice and golf shop and 19th hole are well stocked. I never miss the chance to play this course when I am in the area-even though our family refers to it as "Lost Balls" rather than "Lost Key". Bring at least a dozen balls per person and enjoy a great experience.
Greens and tees were well groomed
Had an enjoyable round of golf in leass than 4 hours. Course condition was very good for this time of year. Greens were true and fast.
Fun course to play
Good practice facilities.
The course is very picturesque given the southeast Florida location. Drives, on several holes, are hit over grass/water hazards. The fairways are very tight and most of the rough are hazards. Nice undulations on the greens.
Nice course
The golf course is nice and well maintained !! It can be a difficult course for an average golfer ! Staff was nice and had everything ready for my buddy's and I when we got there to play .
Beautiful course. Narrow fairways.
Great course. Well maintained. Cart paths suspect in some locations. First time playing, follow advice on score card. Seemed wrong when looking at course from tee box, but always turned out to be right. Really enjoyed playing the course even though very challenging.
Played here many times
Played many times in the past but this time it just didn't feel nearly as "friendly" as in the past. Starter was rather grumpy and I heard him chastize some fellows for not stoping at the clubhouse before going to the range. It could have been done in a much nicer manner. Come to think of it he wasn't too nice to me either.
Great play
Will definitley be playing this course again. The greens were in very good shape to have survived the heat this summer.
Well maintained
Lots of sand and water, but tees, fairways and greens were exceptional.
