Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club
About
Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club sprawls across a scenic landscape of native wetlands, an abundance of hardwood trees, and a generous smattering of meandering creeks and sparkling lakes. The beautiful terrain sets it apart from other golf courses in the Atlanta area. The course is known for the numerous grass-walled bunkers filled with pristine white sand that are strategically placed throughout. The player-friendly greens are wide and approachable, but there is the occasional multi-tier to watch out for. The generous nature of the greens also allows for a variety of pin placements. The natural features of the landscape at Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club not only provide beautiful scenery but they also make for a more interesting game since they require you to get creative with your shot-making, especially when trying to figure out how to handle some of the tricky carries.

Golfer Reviews
Awful Greens
This course is on the verge of going a steep downhill.
The quality and condition of the course was poor at the least and on top of that play pace was slow on a Wednesday afternoon.
Hope they get it together soon. We're not going back any time soon.
This course has a nice layout
I've played this several times in the past & it was really in great shape, however after I just played it , the fairway's were pretty rough & thin causing unpredictably shots, also most of the greens had lots of ball marks as if most your player's could careless about fixing them or about the greens.
Challenging and bumpy
Wonderful course. Many bunkers in front of the green. The fairway has lots of small hills and can't predict which way the ball may roll. The bunkers are under overhaul. All holes are surrounded by houses. Too many houses.
In general, the course seems to be well maintained. We will come back.
Needs a lot of work.
Play this course just about every weekend from Spring to early winter. I’ve never seen it in this condition. Greens are poor and sand traps are cement. They were working on the the traps when I was playing so hopefully they will improve.
How the mighty has fallen
This is a tough one for me and I might be a little biased because I have seen this course in its prime and it is NOWHERE near what it once was. This was one of the absolute best tracks in Atlanta dare I even say in all of Georgia. But is it fair to compare what it once was? I’ll attempt to not do that and give you what I had when I played. The “track” itself is still there and I love the layout. Dennis Griffiths designed this course and its fantastic. You can play American style golf (high and long) on a link style feeling course. Numerous tees which will give you a completely different playing experience depending on what you choose, so choose wisely and have fun. The conditions…… not good. Yes it is April so I’m not going to even judge when it comes to dormant grass but you can tell there has not been any treatment to assist the regrowing of it with spring and summer coming, its taking a natural route. The greens were not great. Deffinently playable and puttable, it wont have complains about holding the line but there are dead spots and some algae or fungus on parts of all the greens, but again its playable but not understandable how that was allowed to happen. The lack of attention to detail shows, bc its not one or two things, its numerous little things that shouldn’t be allowed. Tee markers with “sun baked” paint or rust on them, unfilled divots on the tee boxes, my cart had no sand, bare spots along the cart paths through out the whole course and around the clubhouse (its not hard to punch and throw seed and if its cause by runoff then out sod down so you dont have to worry about the seed being washed away and when its in parts of the course where carts constantly drive onto then put a barrier there i.e rocks, barrier or poles with ropes to force the carts to use another entry/exit point until you can get grass to grow back) the cups for water coolers were still in cardboard sleeve on the side and the cooler’s button was completely off (that didn’t just happen today), the bridges are safe but the wood on them should be repaired and cleaned up, they’ve cut down some the waste/growth areas but have not maintained them so you can find your ball however there’s now a lot of thorny vines that have grown and make it difficult to get near without getting pricked. The boulders need pressure washing that mark the hole your on bc again they look unattended. As I said, its the little things but its numerous things that add up. Great track, always has been. Always will have a special place in my heart but please please please pay attention to detail bc that is what separates the good ones from the great. Take pride in this course bc it absolutely 100% deserves the attention and your love.
Excellent Course
Great playing course, greens and fairways are in great condition. Excellent customer service in the clubhouse as well as in the restaurant.
Always enjoy playing here
Always like playing Crystal Lakes. Wide open and long(in my opinion). Greens. In decent shape. Not what I'd call fast but definitely not slow.
Hello, LAnglin. Thank you for visiting us at Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
We appreciate the rating!
Solid but could be better
Nice course. About half the greens need work. Course was overbooked. Waited a hour for a cart, which made me tee off 30 minutes after my tee time. Staff was nice and the course as a whole was good.
Thanks for the honest feedback, and we will use this for the future.
Disappointed
The only good thing about this course right now are the greens, they are very smooth and fast. Very little sand in the traps and the fairways are ;like concrete not just because of winter conditions. You had to roll the ball around to find a good spot to hit off. Overall very poor. It needs a lot of work.
We appreciate the honest rating and review and hope you'll come back again soon.
Typical Winter Conditions
Played after it rained the day before. Lots of mud. Love the course just not great after rain.
We're so glad you loved the course, and hope you'll come back soon!
Thanks so much for the great rating!
