Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club
About
Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club sprawls across a scenic landscape of native wetlands, an abundance of hardwood trees, and a generous smattering of meandering creeks and sparkling lakes. The beautiful terrain sets it apart from other golf courses in the Atlanta area. The course is known for the numerous grass-walled bunkers filled with pristine white sand that are strategically placed throughout. The player-friendly greens are wide and approachable, but there is the occasional multi-tier to watch out for. The generous nature of the greens also allows for a variety of pin placements. The natural features of the landscape at Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club not only provide beautiful scenery but they also make for a more interesting game since they require you to get creative with your shot-making, especially when trying to figure out how to handle some of the tricky carries.

Cart girl no where to be found
This was my third time playing at this course where the cart girl was no where to be found! First time she stayed at the turn and was never seen again. Second time she wasn’t seen until the 18th hole. Third time she was never seen. Fun course to play, but I would suggest you pack a cooler.
Crystal clear about Crystal Lake Golf Course
Played 5 holes before getting rained out. Course is in very good shape and well maintained. No problem getting a rain check from the friendly staff. I will be playing again and recommend it to lovers of the game.
Decent Course, But I Won't Make The Drive Again
The course was in pretty good shape. Reading the green kicked my behind as they were abit slow, but that is timing of the greens being cut. The greens were in good shape, just hard for me to read. It was an extremely hot day and they said coolers were not allowed. However, we didn't get a water cooler until about the 8th hole and they weren't very abundant. The drink cart didn't make it to us until the 8th hole and 15th holde. The golf carts had abit of age on them with both of our carts having torn seating. The carts did have a computer onboard which helped some, but it was a very old system and was only good for yardage to the green, not the layout or distance to hazards, etc. I would play the course now and then if it were local, but I wouldn't make the 1 hour drive again. The course conditions and friendly staff were the best attributes. One other issue is they didn't have a starter. This allowed the 11:30 tee tiime to tee off at 11:20am and hit right into us, which happened a few times.
Take snacks
Crystal Lakes is a good course with some great hole layouts. However. We played during the hottest part of the day and supposedly you cannot bring a cooler with you. Since the 9th hole does not end at the clubhouse there was no place to get water or refreshments. There was also no drink cart on the course. When we got back to the clubhouse at 7:30, it was completely locked up and we had no place to go the restroom even. It will be awhile before I go back to Crystal Lakes.
Great public course
Very well kept, especially considering how dry it has been. Fun course.
Beautiful greens and scenery! Wonderful Staff! Nice clubhouse
Everything exceptional. Staff friendly. Food and drinks in clubhouse great!
Average at best
Pro shop staff were not friendly or helpful at all. Place of play was terrible. We were on pace to play a 6-7 hr round before we left after 13 holes bc we sat about 10-15 minutes between shots.. No starter or marshals present at all. Cart girl only had beer and Powerade. Trash cans on course were all overflowing and the water coolers had no water. Course layout is not great as there is literally no opportunity to get food or drinks except for at the beginning of the round.
Great round on Juneteenth
Was the last tee time before a 2 hour break for course management . Basically we had the entire course to ourselves. Pace of play was great and the greens where in excelent condition. The only issue were the bunkers , they were not raked much and bc of the rain the top sand was hard as a rock. My fault for even being in the bunkers lol. Would definitely play the course again.
Great fun course
Played here a few times. Very challenging but a very fun course.
DO NOT book the 6;30 A.M tee time because they aren’t actually open until 7.
Greens were redone a few months back and it shows. they are some of the nicest I have played.
The cart guy in the early morning is super friendly
Would recommend to anyone that isn’t brand new at golf because it has a lot tough spots
Absolute disappointment
I’ve played for over 30 years and never in my life have I experienced a more disorganized course. We booked for 3 pm. 3 mins before our tee time a single jumped ahead of us. The a couple who booked at 2:40 showed up late and started next. We were about to play and another pair showed up at the same tee time and insisted they were fast and wanted to play ahead of us. So there we were, about to tee off and suddenly there were 5 people ahead of us. We were so frustrated we just left. They need a starter to create structure and proper etiquette!!
Will play again
Staff were all very friendly, no extra charge to hit on the practice tees to warm up.
Course is laid out in a loop (so if you play 9, you’ll be at max distance from the clubhouse when you finish).
Pace of play was VERY slow, not a reflection on the course, but carts are equipped with gps , so it would seem easy enough to have a ranger move things along. The group ahead of me left after 16 when they got tired of waiting.
Otherwise, course was fun, in good cindition with plenty of challenges from the blues for a mid-handicap golfer.
Private Club Feel
Crystal Lake has the feeling and look of a private club that also happens to have public tee-times. The clubhouse was very nice, clean and well-appointed. There was a full locker room, not just a bathroom. The pro shop was very well-stocked and their personalized gear looked good. The restaurant was also very nice.
The course itself was also excellent. Challenging enough but not punishing. Everything was well-kept and the greens were excellent. The course covers a lot of ground and winds its way through a community. So, if you're a big-time hacker with a wicked slice, you'll need to be very careful off the tee on many holes that are lined very closely with houses.
Especially for the price, this is about the best deal I've seen in the Atlanta area.
