This place is a DUMP
They went up in price added a deposit and it doesn’t measure up. On weekends it’s $75 to play and always takes 5 plus hours to play. The course is in ok shape but it has dead spots and issues throughout. This course could be great but it needs a lot of work and with the price increase they haven’t put any of the $$$ back into it. Pay a few extra $$ and go to RUSTIC or Moorpark CC.
They make this place look like a dump
Simi Hills
Walked the Golds (6381/70.4/125) for 2 GK Cup matches today. 4H 15M morning POP, playing with Kevin, Derrick and Eric. 4H 25M afternoon POP playing with John, Dennis and Alan. Clear, breezy and around 95.
SH is a fun layout to walk and play with few tees far from the last green. Front is hilly, back is flat with tree lined fairways plus a few lakes to keep things interesting. Medium difficulty course almost always in decent condition @ reasonable prices.
Tees some lush and pristine, some just decent, but none were bad.
Kikuyu fairways mostly good coverage with a few hardpan areas marked as GUR.
Kikuyu rough more hit and miss. Not overly tall but often the uncertainness of what lie you will draw is the penalty. Throw in some wood chip areas where they did a turf reduction several years ago to water less that can be challenging to play off of.
Sand traps well maintained with medium to large grain brown sand. They play better than they look, sand shot after sand shot from our groups were good.
Greens were excellent. Smooth, medium fast and firm, downright quick on downhillers. They held approach shots well.
Customer service was very good from all. Drink cart gal around several times, open restaurant. Large practice putting green that is very comparable to the on course greens, small practice chipping area. Decent driving range with mats 5/7 days. Excellent club repair facility beside the driving range that is usually manned. Recommended.
Simi Hills
Rode the Golds (6381/70.4/125) for 36 holes. 4H 20M morning POP, slightly over 4.5H afternoon POP. Clear, breezy and around 80. Played with John and Alan both rounds, and Kevin C. in the morning and Kevin V. in the afternoon for a group of 4 GK Cup matches.
$26.50 to ride on the replay rate was excellent, which somewhat balanced out the $66 (including $5 cart key deposit) I was charged in the am.
Tees adequate. Some lush, some not very good. But to their credit, they were sanding and filling in the weak areas as we played.
Kikuyu fairways were mostly good coverage with a few hardpan areas.
Kikuyu rough hit and miss, not overly tall but often the uncertainness of what you will get is the penalty. Some wood chip areas where they reduced the amount of turf they have to water from several years ago is challenging to play off of.
Sand traps decently maintained with medium to large grain brown sand. MUCH better when wet in the morning round than dry/crusty in the afternoon round.
Greens were excellent. Medium fast and firm, downright fast on downhillers. They held approach shots well.

Fun course, not so fun conditions
Simi Hills is a great course. Each hole seems quite different from the last one. Overall I really like this course and would recommend players of all skill level to play here.
The only problem is the conditions of the fairways. There are many holes where I would rather hit the ball in the first cut of the rough as opposed to the fairway. The fairways are in really bad shape, and it feels bad to hit a great tee shot and then be left with horrible grass to take your approach from.
I still like the course and think others should play it because the pace isn't too bad and the holes are fun, maybe they will get the fairways cleaned up soon..

Walked the Golds (6381/70.4/125) with Jesse in 4H, 15M twilight. Clear, windy and around 70. $27 to walk after noon was a good price.
First time here in over 3 years. SH is a nice layout to walk with few tees far from the last green. Fun layout to play with plenty of hills, trees plus a few lakes to keep you interested.
Most tees decently maintained, good coverage with few unfixed divots except for the par 3's.
Kikuyu fairways were playable. Winter thin with a few bare areas.
Kikuyu rough hit and miss, not overly tall but often the uncertainness of what you will get is the penalty.
Sand traps decently maintained with medium to large grain brown sand.
Greens were excellent. Medium fast and firm, they were downright fast on downhillers. They held approach shots.
Customer service was excellent as usual. Saw the drink cart gal several times today. Nice practice putting green that is very comparable to the on course greens, small practice chipping area. Nice course, poor customer service
I've played here many times, it's a nice easy course. The main and and common problem is customer service. From the front desk to the maintenance, they don't seem to care about customers once they get paid. I just play at Simi hills because its close, I don't think I'll play much more.
Best public course La/ventura
Simi Hills golf course a fair test for all levels of play.. Recent change in senior friendly tee box locations makes the golf experience fun and fair for the growing number of seniors playing the game.the condition of the course is the best in the area. Pace of play during weekdays great. Be prepared for a 5hr. Round on weekends. Great course Great people running it...
Great all around
The course is in great shape and the greens are in great shape and fast. The staff is always friendly and courteous and pace of play is good unless ur behind a tournament
Great Course!
I am new to SoCal so my friend has been taking me around to a few different courses. Before I arrived at Simi Hills I was a bit worried that it was pricier than the other courses we had played; once we got going I knew exactly where that money went, and what great value it was! The fairways are gorgeous, the greens were perfect. I won't lie, I thought the GPS in the cart was overkill, but it did come in handy.
If I could have replayed two holes I would have had my best round of the year... but that's part of life. The pace of play was so much more reasonable that any of the other courses I have played around here... for a Sunday I was thrilled!
I will be back... thanks Simi!
SH... great muni!
Played the Golds (6381/70.4/125) with John in 3.5H in clear, breezy conditions around 80. SH is a nice layout to walk with few tees far from the last green. Fun layout to play with plenty of hills, trees plus a few lakes to keep you interested.
Most of the tees were decently maintained, good coverage with few unfixed divots except for the par 3's.
The Kikuyu fairways had good coverage with a few brown spots. Overall, nice to play from.
The Kikuyu rough here is tough. Not overly long, but it is overly thick. Even a lie seemingly sitting up can be penal.
The sand traps have a decent amount of medium to large grain brown sand that played well.
The greens were recently top dressed, but they putted okay overall, medium speed & were consistent from green to green. They held approach shots.
The customer service was excellent as usual. Saw the drink cart gal several times today.Nice practice putting green that is very comparable to the on course greens, small practice chipping area. Decent driving range with mats 5/7 days. Excellent club repair facility beside the driving range that is usually manned. Medium difficulty course in good condition @ reasonable prices. Recommended = Yes.
