Worth the $20 premiere card rate, not much more.
The Pines course at Pompano is clearly the better of the two tracks. The layout is fun, with a good variety of shots to be played. The tee boxes have been recently renovated and are in amazing shape. The fairways are patchy, as usual. The greens have always been a bit sandy and in rough shape, but they are the absolute worst I’ve ever seen them. 30%+ of the greens surfaces are covered in sand/dirt with no live grass. Rumors say the greens are being renovated in May, so we’ll see.
Definitely worth a play for a cheap online deal or the $20 Premeire Card rate during the summer. But there are DOZENS of better local courses for their standard advertised rates. The carts are in good shape, with decent GPS to the center of the green. The restaurant and outdoor bar are definitely a plus for a bite and a drink after your round.
Course Condition
Most of the putting greens are just green sand .. if you’re okay with that .. then I recommend the course.
worst green
This course need to remake the green shortly it is the worst green i play in Florida this year wait to change green before you go at this place keep your money for anything other.
Okay course
This course is okay to play. I enjoyed the course even though there were spots that were abut care worn. If you can’t play the Greg Norman this will do.
Fairway is no good at Pompano.
The fairway còndition is really really bad. I feel like i am doing a rule violation everytime i lift the ball tò a spot with some grass.. i will not play there anymore until i hear the condition has gotten better.
The course was in bad shape.
The course was in bad shape. The greens on the front nine were covered with sand and barely portable. The fairways on the front nine or in real bad shape you had to move your ball on every shot. The back nine wasn’t too bad and the greens were much better.
Pay A Little More and Play the Pines
Have played the Pines many times and really enjoyed it. Friend told me he played the Palms recently and it was "decent". He is not a good golfer so I should have not taken his word for it. The greens on the back 9 were actually nice, but that is where the positives end. Horrible fairways. Very little grass, alot of sandy areas with no grass at all,and forget it if you go off them a little bit. Really nasty dead grass and weeds everywhere. Terrible conditions around the greens which made for very difficult chipping. This course is really cheap during the summer, but today it was $45 and not worth the money at all. Pay the $10 more and play the Pines if you like your ball to sit up in the fairway.
This course needs love!
The layout is super, the conditions very poor except for the fairway close the US1, proving they can do better!. Fairways, greens everywhere it needs high maintenance. Unfortunately, we ave to go back having booked already with hot deal. After that, no mooore!!!
Pompano Pines
My experience with GolfNow has generally been good but when I arrived for my tee time they had not received my voucher from GolfNow. Fornuately I had my reservation on my phone and they were able to use that to allow me to play.
This course is in fair condition and challenging enough for me as a 20 handicap. Play moved along well and I was teamed up with some good guys and had a good time. I will play again.
1st and Last Time I'll Play the Palms Course
Although I play 2 to 4 times a week year around, and have lived within a roughly 30 minute drive of the Pompano Beaches' Muni Courses for over 9 years, this was my 1st time playing here. It will most likely be my last although I may give the Pines Course a try as I hear it's much better.
The really sad thing is that everything was fine until I actually teed off on the first hole. Parking was ample. Check in was a bit odd but was no problem. Locker Room was nice enough. The course Staff was friendly enough. The carts themselves were nice enough. And then I teed off on the 1st hole of the Palms and my experience quickly and rapidly went down hill. Put bluntly, the overall course conditions were very poor from tee boxes to fairways to greens. Simply very subpar golf course conditions. It was doubly sad as the basic layout and design were a bit different and intriguing that utilized more than just lots of water and sand as most South Florida Courses do. Sadly it wasn't enough to overcome the horrible course conditions. I may try the Pines course sometime in the future but unless it is far superior to the Palms that will be my last time playing here. There are simply too many better options for the money.
Loved it!
We played this coarse once before but today was great. Seemed very busy when we arrived but were able to play alone, which we like. Pace was good and will go back. Our new house I’d closer than we thought great to be so
close. Plan to play next week with guests if possible.
