Nice day on the course!
We played as a twosome on a nice warm Florida spring day. Greens were great, rolled true and just fast enough. Bunkers were all in great shape. Pace of play was a bit slow on the front nine. The foursome in front of us let us play through on the 10th hole with no one in front of us we breezed through the back nine. Played the Heron on the front and Osprey on the back. Tee boxes were rough. I know it is an executive, mostly par 3 course but golfers should be using tees. The amount of divots on the tee boxes lessened the experience. I am a Pennsylvania golfer. Our courses typically have just a bit of water. The Florida courses are a challenge as errant shots can often find the water. Not a course issue, but a golfer issue. All-in-all an enjoyable day on the course.
Nice Course
Well kept executive course. It does get cozy and back-ups happen. Be prepared to wait.
reasonable rates, decent layout, friendly staff.
Love playing here but the course conditions need improvement. weeds in fairways and rough tend to grab your club as sliding through. Traps are OK and greens are in good shape. also cart paths need some work too.
Excellent Course
Course is in great shape, staff is very friendly. Pace of play was great with little to no wait times.
Harder than it looks
We played the Odyssey, and it is quite challenging. Players must hit over or along side water on most holes. You can’t lay up or miss too many greens. The course had quite a few dry spots and we frequently had to hit off hard pad around the greens. The greens were a little rough with some very tough pin placements. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. There are several nice places to enjoy a drink after your round, but there was only one central bar open when we were there.
Great round
We had a nice sub-3 hour round at Burnt Store Marina. We played with Matt, a young father of two, and enjoyed his escape from reality for a few hours. Great people make great golf! Enjoy a round!
Comfortable Day at Golf
Two dear friends of ours were visiting from Michigan and wanted to play 9 holes of Golf. I selected this course based on availability and affordability. They both were very pleased and enjoyed themselves. They plan to return and play the other 2 nines.
Needs improvement
The last 3 times we have played this course (18holes) it has taken 4 or more hours to complete. However this is an executive course, so ideally it should only take 3 hrs. On several holes, there were more than3 groups -- long wait times! No one was marshalling throughout the course.
Also lots of bare/coarse areas. I understand that Troon has taken over the maintenance and supervision of this golf course. It appears that they are neglecting the care of the course or perhaps not willing to spend the resources required to keep it properly playable.
Green Grass Short course
I found this course to be in the best shape of the courses I have played in the Port Charlotte area. There was Grass on the fairways and the T boxes. The T box grass was watered with grass growing. The greens were mostly a carpet of grass just like mid summ in the mid west. Great place to work on your short game.
I like it
Coarse conditions continue to improve. Greens were very good.
