The par-5 6th is one of the best scoring opportunities on the front nine after a few devilish holes. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 07/05/2020

Due to incalcuable elevation change, the par-3 10th is one of the hardest 145-yard holes I've ever played. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 07/05/2020

Golfer Reviews
Worth the drive
One of the several trips I have made out to BRS golf course. Well worth the extra twenty to thirty minutes it takes to get here. Price is great and course always in good shape.
Still A Really Cool Course
Blue Ridge Shadows remains a well-maintained course with a unique layout, friendly staff, and good overall value. Since I last played here last year, they’ve upgraded the sand in all the bunkers, though it was hard to fully appreciate the improvement with all the rain the course had had in recent weeks. Even still, the course played well and there was very little standing water in play.
The course layout remains unique to the area with lots of elevation change, something you don’t get at courses like Shenandoah Valley GC or Bowling Green CC. There is a good variety of holes and you’ll use a full arsenal of shots throughout your round. I’ve always struggled to play well here but this time I posted a score closer to my average than my previous attempts, so I would classify the course as somewhat challenging. As I have mentioned in other reviews of this course, they have tried to make the course more playable in recent years.
Course conditions were decent but with so much rain lately, it was hard to expect any better. The bunkers weren’t completely washed out but didn’t look like they had been groomed recently. Some of the tee boxes looked pretty bad and there were some dead spots on some of the greens but overall nothing that affected play.
With a very friendly staff and good off-course amenities BRSGC is a more complete package than its in-town rivals. I look forward to coming back again when it’s a little drier.
GOlf with GolfNow
I played this course for the good value. Richland GC is to berree me but the tee time is at 11:10am, Black Rock is neerer also but is too expencise and at 10::38am. Also Bowling Green South and North but at 11:52am, Clustered Spires GC too expensive. Shenandoah VallyGC great price but at 9:48am!! And Mountain View GC for the top of what I can pay at a good hour!! Can you revive these prices and hours? I am a VIP member and have to consume the 10 tee times of $20 each after 12m.
Visiting ares
For the price(GN hot deal) this was a good deal. Wouldn't have wanted to pay more. Great layout, course needs s little TLC.
Great for all Amateurs!!
You can't beat BRS for layout, conditioning or staff friendliness. Course is in the best shape ever, and greens are super smooth(only a few bare spots on 15 & 16 that need to grow in).
Pick the right tees and it'll be a tough test. You'll need to do everything right to put up a good score. Precision, length and being a good lag putter are all required.
Lunch in the grill is delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, its worth the drive out to Front Royal and i look forward to each and every tine there. They do a great job!
would play again
staff very professional and courteous course in very good shape would play it again thank you
Great hidden gem
This is a great course only about 1 1/2 hours out of DC..As it is off the beaten path, not many of my golfing buddies here in the District hve heard about it but I am passing the word now. We love this course.
Great Course - Best in the Area!!
I'm an avid golfer and been playing this course for a few years. It went through a tough period and ownership change a few years ago. I've played the course twice this year and it was in excellent condition! The staff is always kind, courteous, and willing to please!! I played with my son, we really wanted to play as a twosome and not be paired up with anyone, they accommodated us without question. Compared to all other courses in this area, I have this one ranked as the top because of challenge, condition, staff service, and pace of play. I know it's going to be a challenging and fun round every time I'm scheduled to play Blue Ridge Shadows!!
Course keeps improving
Great customer service. Course seems to be bouncing back from years ago. Best value around for the type of course it is. Keep up the good work.
Hot day.
Course was in good shape except for spots on their greens. They are having keeping grass in spots due to the severe slopes. Even with no grass in spots they rolled very well. Very nice views from elevated tee boxes. Fortunately there is shade along the edges of the course to stay cool in extreme heat.
Nice Course
I rode a cart while my husband played. It is a pretty golf course with amazing views. My husband said it was in good condition. They have had a lot of rain and we had to stay on the cart path on three holes but it wasn't a problem all.
Lots of wildlife to see. I took pictures of deer, foxes playing on the side of the fairway.
It's a nice place and my husband said it is a good golf course to play and the price was really good.
We live near D.C and its half the price of courses there. The hotel is nice too.
Poor and rude service
When I arrived I was given a cart and put w another group to play with. When we were about to start our round I was told I had to give my cart back and ride w someone else. I requested to keep my own cart due to possible bad weather coming in the area and that I was not feeling well and prob wouldn’t play all 18 holes . I was denied that request and told that I had to share a cart or not be allowed to play.
The person they were putting me with was sitting on his cart smoking cigarettes which I did not like either .
I tried again and again to get my own cart but the pro shop people were rude and said I had only paid for half a cart !! They said play by our rules or leave.
It almost got physical .
The guy who I was teamed with also said he wanted his own cart but they made us ride together or said leave.
The worse customer service ever!!
Blue Ridge SUCKS
Well kept course
Had a good score 44-36=80 for the 18 holes!! Happy and met dream golfers in my forsome!!
Fun yet challenging
First hole is a downhill dogleg left. Stay right or you are in trouble. Very picturesque, the views are incredible! The greens rolled very consistent with some speed. My favorite hole has to be #14. First ever “S” style fairway to green. With some brush hazard to split the middle and a great approach shot of a small creek. Choose your shots wisely. I can’t wait to play there again!!!
