Royal Kunia Country Club
About
Royal Kunia Country Club boasts a reputation as one of the best and most scenic golf courses on Oahu. The course is perched high above the Ewa plain, offering panoramic views of the entire South Shore, stretching from Pearl Harbor to the downtown skyline of Honolulu to the famed Diamond Head. The layout rolls across a gently undulating landscape, offering a diverse layout of short par 4s and demanding par 5s. Water comes into play on a few holes and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. Its coastal location guarantees that wind will be a factor in determining your outcome. The signature hole comes exactly midway through the course. Royal Kunia Country Club's par-5 ninth requires three strong shots that avoid the numerous troubles from tee to green including bunkers, trees, water, and of course, wind.

Worst pace of play I have ever experienced
At one point, there were 5 groups on one hole. One of the groups was a 5 some. This is the second time I have experience this on this course. We started at 1 pm and finished 14 holes. We did not see a course ranger at any point through the day. At 6 pm (still an hour of daylight left) a course ranger came and picked up the flags and told us the carts had to be in by 6. 5 hours and we still had 4 holes left! As we were getting in car, we noticed the group of 5 were still playing the 18 hole (6:45). This course clearly only cares to get your green fees and overbooks more than it can handle.
The course is beautiful but it is ashame that it is mismanaged. I will not be playing it again.
Beautiful Course!
Rolling hills, beautiful trees and flowers, stunning views, wow! Fairways were nice and greens pretty good considering how hot and dry it has been. Lots of bunkers and water hazards, but not overly difficult. I only lost one ball! Very friendly staff! However, the clubhouse and pro shop was the opposite. More like 2 temporary old wooden buildings, bad bathrooms, the "bar" had a couple of old tables, a single wooden shelf of liquor, and an old beat up cooler with a few beers. Major let down. If the club house was at least a 3* instead of a 1*, it would be right up there with the best courses on the island!
I personally like this club as the beautiful layout.but the fairway's condition is not so good and the greens too.
I wish to go there and be satisfied with all conditions.
Delay due to 5 players.
The play was slow and delayed due to former team who have 5 players.
It had tl be splitted to two teams to prevent delay.
Loved it.
Beautiful course and facility. In great shape. Definitely want to play again!
First golf outing of 2019
Hats off to all from the maintenance crew, groundskeeper, greens keeper, club house, starter, and restaurant. Apologize if I missed anyone. Always enjoyed playing here. Very friendly for golfers who play from the forward tees. And the view. And last, very reasonable to play.
Tee. box was trimmed well. If there are more sand boxes to fill repair sand bottle , it helps to repaor debots by the players.
Best golf valuable HAWAII!
For December this course was in great shape. So many courses in Hawaii have extremely high prices and often way worse conditions than Royal Kunia. Officially Hawaii refers to us as visitors - however I like to refer us as foreign pigeons when it comes to being fleeced by most courses. Royal Kunia as far as I am concerned is the best value Golf Course on Oahu - I can't believe that the course was not jammed today - I hope that the masses of foreign pigeons soon discover this gem - we played today in about 3.5 hours - it was fantastic!
Thanks Royal Kunia - I will be back!
Monday midday
Although a lot of people were out there, we made it around in 4 hrs. Tees & greens were above average shape. The rough was fair where I played most of my golf. Starter pushed us right out. He was very nice.
Extremely slow golf and over priced for visitors.
While the course was in good condition, the play was extremely slow. There were 4 groups waiting at the 1st par 3. Also, the price is very high for visitors. There are a number of other courses I would rather play. I will not ever come back for the $150 fee.
Great round
Played on a Saturday, even though I had a 2:20 tee time they let me go an hour early. Great staff- very friendly. Beautiful course- great play for a Saturday.
Not your average country club
Let me start by saying we enjoyed our round in spite of the fact the course is not worth $150 USD. Paid $45 on GolfNow and consider that what it’s worth. However, don’t be mislead, this is not a country club course by North American standards, but more by Caribbean standards. Best way to describe the club house is it’s like a couple portables joined together. Felt like a municipal course. Golf carts are old, and no gps, which is fine. Course itself was in decent condition and the layout is ok with a few picturesque holes. Pace of play was perfect as there weren’t many golfers the day we played.
I rented clubs, premium set $50 was a newer set of TM Burneres which was fine..
No beverage cart came around though we there was one.
Great Course
Course was in great shape..staff was very friendly I highly recommend this course. Pace of play was excellent..didn't have to wait at all.

Great price!! Great greens, tee boxes and fairways were pristine! Will definitely be back and highly recommend this course. 5 Star
Great Escape!!
My wife and I tried this course specifically because of the "Hot Deal" on GolfNow.com. Upon arrival we were placed behind a group of 14 visiting "hackers" who tried their level best to keep up the pace of play. A little on the slow side (finishing at 5hr + 30min). The course is in OUTSTANDING shape, the greens are running quick (not overly fast) but true, and the occasional view of Waikiki and Diamond Head are a treat. Our tee time took us into the tail end of the day when the sea breeze basically stopped which brought out the insects. Beautiful course with a nice comfortable layout made for a very affordable and enjoyable vacation day.
Solid Option On The South Shore
Royall Kunia is a decent golf course with very nice views of Pearl Harbor on several holes. I found the layout to be interesting yet very playable. The course is in decent shape and the greens for the most part ran true, but the course is not immaculately manicured like some of the resort courses you will find in Hawaii. The staff is extremely friendly. The clubhouse and amenities are, however, somewhat "bare bones." I found the pace of play to be somewhat disappointing, with my round exceeding 4 hours and 45 minutes. Nonetheless, the layout, the views, and the friendliness of the staff place this course in the "recommend" category for me.
SLOW PLAY
We gave up after 5 hours when we were standing on the 15th tee. Ridiculously slow. The course was OK shape but for the price we paid, it was in poor shape. They had gas golf carts which means you get to breathe the fumes for 5 plus hours. Don't waste your time or your money.
Nice course with beautiful views
Loved this course - our second time playing here. Course in very good condition.
