Royal Kunia Country Club
About
Royal Kunia Country Club boasts a reputation as one of the best and most scenic golf courses on Oahu. The course is perched high above the Ewa plain, offering panoramic views of the entire South Shore, stretching from Pearl Harbor to the downtown skyline of Honolulu to the famed Diamond Head. The layout rolls across a gently undulating landscape, offering a diverse layout of short par 4s and demanding par 5s. Water comes into play on a few holes and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. Its coastal location guarantees that wind will be a factor in determining your outcome. The signature hole comes exactly midway through the course. Royal Kunia Country Club's par-5 ninth requires three strong shots that avoid the numerous troubles from tee to green including bunkers, trees, water, and of course, wind.

Heavenly round
Excellent course with very friendly staff and restaurant. The surrounding views of diamond head, Pearl Harbor and the Waianae mountain range with rainbows made this a round for the ages!
Challenging approach shots
Everything was nice ,greens could use a little more attention but overall and enjoyable experience
Royal Kunia G> C>
Excellent course & great staff.
The course is well maintained and good pace of play.
very courteous staff, sand traps and hazard placements are strategically positioned which makes it interesting. Par 3's are interesting.
Royal Kunia GC Oahu
One of the better GC on Oahu
Challenging
Hilly w water hazards
Great Day - Played in 3 hours!
Food in restaurant was great and a good price.
Staff were nice and friendly.
Teed off on time and never waited as a twosome until the 18th hole. Played in 3 hours and 5 minutes. Was a great day. Greens could have been a bit better but you can't have everything! We still made a few putts.
Hitoshi
I always enjoyed to play this course.
Condition is good and view from course are great.
#2 and #18 are both challenging nice holes.
Great views of Pearl Harbor
This was my second time playing this course. While I remember when the course was first bult in the early '90's, I also rember its reputation on Oahu - "the best course you can't play," Sad to say that time has not been kind to Royal Kunia. Don't get me wrong....it's not completly run down - far from it. BUT...it does suffer, like a lot of Oahu courses from a lack of maintenance (it's a little rough around the edges). Sand traps could use some sand (very clay like), practice range is just a rough area; between fairways lacks a little "curb appeal." Don't let this turn you away, the views remain awsome, staff was very friendly and the course presents enough challenges for a very enjoyable day. Nice wide open fairways with room to move the ball. Not overly long....and well conditioned greens,
The lack of a clubhouse is minor as the on-site restuarant does a good job with what they have.
Nice views, decent course, indifferent staff
We were able to get our tee time using Tee Time Specials and we used the Cyber-Monday 2 for $99 special so it cost us $50/round. Compared to other Oahu Courses, this was nothing really special. the greens were in very good shape, but he fairways and tee boxes were average.
The lady who checked us in seemed to be more interested in answering the phone than dealing with us, and wasn't particularly welcoming. The guys at the cart return weren't very helpful, didn't offer to clean our clubs, and from a distance just told us to leave the carts near their shack. Definitely not a "Country Club" atmosphere. It was okay for $50 a round, but I would not have been happy to pay the Tee Time Special of $80+ or the $150 advertised rack rate. I wouldn't rush to return. Nothin' special.
Kamaaina Golfer
I love the course layout and price value at Royal Kunia.
The staff in the pro shop are friendly and the local grindz in the small restaurant go good with beer.
My only suggestion would be to add sand to the bunkers. They were like concrete.
for locals it is a good place to practice
Sometimes it is crowded when tour groups play, but most of the time the visitors follow golf etiquette.
it has interesting views of Honolulu.
Not likely to loose balls, it is quite open .
Great value! Great views!
Don't be turned away by negative reviews of this course. What it lacks in amenities it more then makes up for it with views and playability. I have played better conditioned course but not for the value. Don't get me wrong it's in good condition. Plays shorter then the yardage, which gives you a lot of good scoring chances. Greens are very fair. Book for the right price and you won't be disappointed.
This course is well maintained.
I enjoy playing at this course. The staff is so friendly and efficient. If you have a tee time they are always get you out on time. The course is well maintain and beautiful. Views spectacular!
Nice day
We played on a rather windy day but even though the conditions were a little tough, the generous fairways made it reasonable. The general course condition was very good, especially for a public course. The staff was very nice and the restaurant was surprisingly good, with a large selection of local and American selections. The only somewhat negative feature was the number of severe false fronts on the greens. All in all we really enjoyed the day and would go again given the opportunity.
Scenic Golf on Oahu
This is an older course located in the hills above Honolulu. It is worth playing for the scenic views alone. Fantastic panoramic views of Honolulu, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, and the surrounding mountain range. Fairways are thin. Greens don't hold approach shots. It takes patience but well worth the visit if you want to experience the real Hawaii.
Poor value for the money
Non resident rate just way to high for the value. $150pp.
Clubhouse and pro shop in a double wide
Greens poor. Course condition overall fair.
Great layout for any level golfer. Beautiful views!
This course had a very nice layout from the blues with a couple of risk/reward par 4s. Great for any level golfer. Beautiful views to the south: Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, and Diamond Head. Very interesting Par 5s set at #1, #9, #10, and #18. Good start. Good ending!
Great course. Nice people
First time playing this course and I loved it. Very nice people working there and playing there too. Pace of play is good and the layout is quite enjoyable. I highly recommend this course as it is a hidden gem on Oahu.
