Royal Kunia Country Club

About
Royal Kunia Country Club boasts a reputation as one of the best and most scenic golf courses on Oahu. The course is perched high above the Ewa plain, offering panoramic views of the entire South Shore, stretching from Pearl Harbor to the downtown skyline of Honolulu to the famed Diamond Head. The layout rolls across a gently undulating landscape, offering a diverse layout of short par 4s and demanding par 5s. Water comes into play on a few holes and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. Its coastal location guarantees that wind will be a factor in determining your outcome. The signature hole comes exactly midway through the course. Royal Kunia Country Club's par-5 ninth requires three strong shots that avoid the numerous troubles from tee to green including bunkers, trees, water, and of course, wind.

Disappointing
Meh… expected a little more for the $150 I paid. Waited 5 minutes on every tee box. Pro shop and club house at my local municipal 10x nicer. Carts were antiquated …. from 1980…plus they gave me a hard time for not having a collard shir? Lol.. are you aware of the conditions of your golf course?
I never leave reviews!
I never leave reviews but feel like I have to. Course layout and condition are average. The checkin staff seemed a bit unwelcoming. Kristi in their restaurant/lounge is the only great thing about the course. No Marshall or starter controlling groups going out. Staff that you get carts from said to go line up behind other players. Groups went out ranging from singles all the way up to 8 guys playing together. When my son and I called it quits we were 12 holes in and at that point had been on the course for over 4 hours. Views are nice on a decent amount of holes.
Amazing!
It is a hidden gem! Beautiful view, and fun playable course. Staff is amazing, always friendly and helpful.
Beautiful views, but that’s about it
It does have some nice views of the harbor. Pace was terrible, group of 5 in front of us just playing around the whole time, no Marshall help. They only allow two people in pro-shop (if you can call it that) at a time, which is a huge hassle when busy. You’re good with us being in line, just not in your shop. Carts are trash. Overall not excited.
Poor management
Booked as a single. Course sent two five-somes in a row. Then two separate two-somes, a four, a three, and then me as a solo. Pace was awfully slow. Should have paired the 2 two-somes together and put me with the 3 in order to keep all of the groups at the same pace. Waited all afternoon because of this poor planning. I asked an on course Marshall about the two groups of five and he didn’t speak any English. Lost in translation.
Nice course, needs better organization.
No starter, just get your cart and go. 4 hour round, should be less than 3 since tee time was at 7:00am.
Ranger is useless.
Course is in great condition but a few greens on back nice are burnt.
I would definitely play here again, nice course!
Course was in good shape
This was my first time to play here and was very pleased with the course condition. Course is pretty open when hitting.
Value Course for sure
My cousin recommended this course if I could get a good twilight rate. The course was in good shape and it has nice views of Pearl Harbor and Honolulu, so it was a nice experience for our first round together on Oahu. As I had read, the off course amenities are rough. The riding cart we received was very dirty and the brake did not work so we had to return it and get a different one. The second cart was only slightly better. There were singles and couples out there not paired up with no starter or marshals around. That made for a lot of waiting and slow play. I saw a few people walking. If you are local, this would be a good walking course with a kaimana rate.
Fun Course for Average Golfer
Roya Kunia offers a fun but challenging course. I has the right amount of sand and water for a course in Hawaii. The views are also pretty amazing, look into Pearl Harbor and all the way to Diamond Head.
Pleasant surprise
Much hillier than I expected the course to be with lots of water. Bonds shots and genna that are well protected by bunkers and depressions. Keep your ball straight and in the flats and you'll be okay. Did I mention the wind? Is a tough course imo but I'll definitely play here again.!
