Makani Golf Club

I was visiting from So Cal and this was my 6th year. I have not yet played golf on Hawaii. THis course was great. Well maintained, challanging and beautiful. I played alone but had a great time. Staff was great and I will be baci next year to play again.

The starters got us off early and to a beautiful day. Great course, layed out very well and very creative beauty.

We found the course to be in very good shape with challenging and picturesque holes.

The course is improving in it is condition, given the limited maintenance staff the tees and greens are in good shape. Bunkers have enough sand, without the additional staff they cannot rake them daily. Fairways are in good shape although there are spots where the sprinkler system is not covering the area. The course unlike many in the area is playable, but challenging for all levels of golfers and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Check the weather report before booking. Wind can be a severe challenge. A very scenic mountain course in Hawaii with lot's of wild life.

Course is under new management and it's obvious that they are spending some time and money to improve the course. We played the course twice in Sept 2012 and course was in very good condition. Though a 25 minute drive from Kona, its worth the trip. $59 visitor rate any day any time can't be beat. Great pace of play and fun track. Will play again next time on Big Island.

Big Island CC is a located above the Kohola coast with magnificent views of the big island of Hawaii. This golf course is the wonderful mix of golf and nature as the setting, wildlife, and natural fauna of Hawaii all come together on this beautiful and challenging Perry Dye golf course. #17 is the signature hole--just like the Players Club #17 with an "island" green. Bring plenty of balls if you plan to play it from the back tees. During our round we were visited by goats, sheep, geese and a special type of fowl (forgot the name) that roam the course. Off of #11 tee(behind a fence) a donkey will talk to you!!. Many challenging holes--too many to mention and a delight to play. The staff is most friendly and made us feel welcome. We always play at least two times on our trips to the Hawaii because we like Big Island CC so very much. If I lived on the island--I would really consider this course my "home" course (over some of the "big name courses") because of the "zen" of golfing on this special piece of land.

Great find for my wife and myself 2 years ago, quality golf at affordable prices in Hawaii, hard to find.
