About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Challenging but fair layout.
Holes were interesting with lots of variety. Approach shots were tight but fair. The greens were in good shape an$ staff was very friendly.
Outstanding value!
This is a great value. Played in under 4 hours on a weekend. Greens were overseeded and perfect. Condition much improved over last year.

I really enjoyed the course, very well maintained fairways and always a good lie. The greens are well maintained/prepared for winter golf and all are in impeccable condition ; great putting. Friendly 5-star (plus) staff and course not to crowded. Price is affordable and is a great deal. There are some water holes around which makes it a little challenging for those few holes. I strongly recommend this course.

Good layout and fun to play
Greens getting better still a little slow but love the layout. Generous fairways and landing areas with challenging shots to shape on approach well bunkered greens. This course could be an awesome track with more care. Price value is still very good. I will play anytime.

Great course layout
Although they had recently over seeded, the greens still played well. The white tees were a little long for me but still played them as the green tees would have been too short. We are going back to play the course again in a couple days. Staff was very friendly and our sandwiches at the turn were excellent.

Quality Golf Course
Layout is quality, ball position is paramont
Conditions are average however I will make this a regular stop on my trips to Destin. Price is exceptional for this area. A very good value for a very good course. Hot Dog had grilled bun, never had seen that before anywhere

Challenging greens
Course was much different then what I'm used to in Eastern PA. Greens were very slow, surrounded by lots of sand traps.

Good course
I thoroughly enjoyed my day playing this course. There was a lot of water but it made it more fun. The staff was friendly and course was easy to navigate. The only complaint that I have is that is had too much sand on the greens, but I'm from Ohio where that is not a problem, the other two courses I played had the same problem. If you play in the afternoon it is not an issue but in the morning it is wet, the sand sticks to the ball and becomes a problem putting.

Good enough
Course reminded me of standard municipal style. Staff was very friendly. Gas carts. Limited pro shop. Despite recent rain, course looked dry. Nobody else seemed to be playing so got 18 in about 3:15 golfing solo. I will play this course again.
Rough shape
Staff was nice, but this course was pretty bad. Definitely would recommend playing elsewhere.
I don't think this course will survive the next 5 years
Horrendous course conditions. A real shame considering the layout is decent. The pro in the shop was very friendly and hospitable. I just don't see how a golf course like this can compete in the Destin/Ft Walton area. There are dozens of better options.
Staff friendly and helpful course needs a lot of attention
The management and employees aren't the problem with Shalimar point golf course. The course maintenance is the issue. Need a lot of attention as of 4 July when I played there. Has a lot of potential

Course lay out was nice but fairways and greens needed a lot of work.for the price not a bad deal we had a good time
Couldnt pass it up
Golf now had a hot deal for 12 dollars so we couldnt pass it up. I used to be a member here along time ago when they were trying to figure out the who was buying it. Then the course was falling apart. Yesterday I was pleased to see it was in better shape now than it was then. It wasnt great and I still wouldnt pay full price but it was tons better. But heres what you can expect if you go play there. Driving range grass in hitting area was longer than the rough on the course. The fairways were in good shape and mown tightly. The greens were all sandy but rolled true and were decently fast. The biggest complaint that I have is that the sprinklers turned on in the middle of the day as we were puttin on 12 and were on for several greens after that. Which one, soaked my entire cart and stuff inside. Bag, clubs, phone, range finder and then the greens were soaked and you had to dodge the sprinklers. Totally annoying.
Great value, wonderful layout
Course is very well laid out. Greens in good shape, fairway had some issues but they were working one it. Staff was super friendly.
Worse than expected
The course was overall not in very good shape. 15 out of 18 greens were very poor, mostly dirt with very little grass. Maintenance of the course seemed to be very poor. Glad I only paid $16 for my round instead of the normal $40 rate!
Thank goodness it was over quickly!
The fairways had been aerated with large holes. The greens were in terrible condition. The tee boxes were poor. A nice course layout but the conditions were deplorable.
I wondered why we were one of a few on the course.. it became quite clear after the first hole.
Has to be the worst course I've ever played on GolfNow!
