About
Cowan Creek Golf Course is the newest of three courses that are part of Del Webb's Sun City retirement community. Cowan Creek has a resort-style layout with a front nine that plays through the community, with the homes set well back from the fairways, and a back nine that stretches across the scenic Hill Country landscape. The back nine is slightly tougher than the front. Although the golf course is wide-open there are some mesquite trees and cacti that add some scenery throughout. The layout features large landing areas, forgiving fairways, and there are few tricks and hazards, all of which make it an approachable course for beginners. There are some challenges though that will appeal to more experienced players including a few blind shots, elevated greens and tees, and some forced carries. Throughout Cowan Creek Golf Course, golfers will find some interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Short Short Short
Short and dry. This course would be really good for beginners because there is almost zero danger from every tee box. I shot -1 and I am usually in the low 80’s on any other course. They really need to water a little more because it is showing early signs of being baked out. The green were not bad but would be perfect with a little more water. All in all it was enjoyable but just not very challenging.

Love this course!
Hadn't played this course for awhile and didn't have a great score but still had a great time. Went to the Mulligans at White Wing afterwards for some brewskis. Wish they would open one up at the other courses.

Good Outing
Course has a good layout. Fairways were in great shape and well maintained. Only one temporary green which was on the low spot of the fairway. Most all green are in great shape, the ones they had issues they were in the outer edges. Great views and plenty of wild life around. There is no grill/ bar so be sure to bring your lunch or snack. Also likes the Bring your own drink aspect. Short driving range, but great putting and chipping areas. Pace of play wasn’t bad just got congested here and there. Staff was nice a friendly. All in all great course for the money.

A fun course to play
A nice layout with a pretty good practice area. The lay out is nice and the course is fun to play. The greens are usually just ok and the price is good.

greens in bad shape
Your puts roll across the greens like they were on a wash board. Some type of fungus I would guess. They course should be closed until they straighten it out
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, however, we truly apologize for any inconvenience regarding our greens. We appreciate your patience & understanding as this time of year does create some struggle with Poa Annua and the recent weather has also been the perfect storm for Pythium root rot. Our superintendent is aware and working diligently on treatment for both, however, Poa Annua is a cool season grass so conditions will be improving with the warmer temps ahead! Please note we have decided to close the course for the time being while these improvements take place, and we hope to welcome you back for a much better round soon.
Quality, Challenging Track
Cowan Creek is one of my favorite central Texas courses. I don't get to play there too often because of the horrible Austin area traffic. The fairways were in excellent condition as expected, but unexpectedly the greens were less than desirable. They have two issues right now. 1) they must be in some sort of transition from winter rye to summer bermuda and a LOT of the bermuda hasn't come in yet so you get a lot of bare spots. 2) they have an extreme amount of little crab grass growths that completely affected almost every putt from our foursome. I hope the greenskeepers have a plan to take care of those boogers. As long as you get there early, the staff is more than pleasant and don't forget to bring your own refreshments! Counter guy very rude
Felt like I was in 3rd grade and principal was talking to me..felt very disrespected for bein 3 min late...I’ll never step foot at any sun city golf courses
Mediocre
Greens were in terrible shape and the only snack or drink was a vending machine. I ate peanut butter crackers for lunch not knowing this.

Greens were insane...
Typical fairway conditions for this time of year - very sparse grass, and greens were "lightning" fast - probably 12+ on stimpmeter. Haven't played here in 3 years, but I'm a good putter and 8 handicap and 3-putted 7 greens. Nice course layout though...

I was somewhat concerned that this would not be a good experience based on some other previous reviews, my fears were unfounded. From the check in at the clubhouse, to the courtesy of the starter and marshal, I thought the staff was great. I have played about 15 rounds in the area so far in 2019 and these were the best greens by far. Course provides excellent layout, playability and has a very upscale feel to it.
