About
Cowan Creek Golf Course is the newest of three courses that are part of Del Webb's Sun City retirement community. Cowan Creek has a resort-style layout with a front nine that plays through the community, with the homes set well back from the fairways, and a back nine that stretches across the scenic Hill Country landscape. The back nine is slightly tougher than the front. Although the golf course is wide-open there are some mesquite trees and cacti that add some scenery throughout. The layout features large landing areas, forgiving fairways, and there are few tricks and hazards, all of which make it an approachable course for beginners. There are some challenges though that will appeal to more experienced players including a few blind shots, elevated greens and tees, and some forced carries. Throughout Cowan Creek Golf Course, golfers will find some interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Wait for dryer conditions
Unfortunately this course has extremely bad drainage. We played 1/10/19 and after almost a week of no rain it is still cart path only and needs to be. Lots of very wet, muddy, sloppy fairways take away from the enjoyment factor, in my opinion. To add to the problem, maintenance people drive all over the course, including all around the greens, leaving deep tire marks. Come on, guys, this only makes it worse. Greens are in good shape and when maintenance doesn't tear the course up, and when the conditions are more favorable this is a fun and challenging course. Just wait till ?? who knows?

The "marshal" (actually one of the men that washes the carts) came out and told everyone they had to QUIT the round (it was 1710HRS - that's 5:10pm) because the carts HAD to be in at 5:15pm...we had two holes left to play...we're on the tee box of 17, and he's standing in front of the tee box, and won't move, and is demanding that we turn the carts in now.
If the carts were due in at 5:15pm you all should have said that when we checked in.
VERY POOR MANAGEMENT; VERY POOR COMMUNICATIONS ; AND VERY** VERY** POOR "CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE/CUSTOMER SERVICE" - I will tell everyone to avoid Sun city

Weather was nice but course was cart path only due to how wet it was. Play was very slow and they needed a marshall to pick up the pace.

I always love to play Cowan, even if it's cart path only. Nothing they can do if they want to keep the course in good shape
Great course, not so great staff
I looked their website to see the tee times available. They had an 8am slot for 3 which was exactly what I needed. But I thought I’d call first and make sure the course was playable and not flooded out after all the rain we got over the week before. They guy said yes the entire course is good, wet, but good. Went ahead and booked the tee time with him. Got there the next morning and he rang me up for $58 bucks...on their website it was $41. I tried to explain that to him but he wasn’t haven’t it. Told me his computer says it’s $58 and there’s nothing he can do about it. Moral of the story, BOOK ONLINE. And don’t expect friendly faces and smiles when you arrive. Other than that, great course. Not very difficult. But fun.
Rained out
We were rained out on hole 5, but the course was in good shape. It was very easy to get a rain check from Golf Now.
Nice course, even after the rain
I really like this course, as is challenging for different levels. The rain created many mud puddles and some of the bunkers are being repaired. Still great viurse to play.

Great golf course. Especially if you live nearby. Pace of play is 4 hours, bring your own beverages, ice and water is plentiful

My review might be skewed since I was hitting some great shots today (not a common occurrence for me)... Beautiful course with great amenities. Price included range balls and a golf cart. Not very hilly so your ball will have a nice lie throughout the 18. Greens were perfect. Everyone was welcoming and the whole experience was a result of a well-managed operation.

Nice Course, need serious improvement
The fairways were scalped to the ground, so every time you took a stroke, you had to deal with the caliche. The greens had been sanded, thank god, otherwise the ball would have been blown off the green. We will put this course on our reserve list, not primary list to play.
The course condition was not that good. The pace of play was extremely slow, took us 5 hours to finish a round.
