Timberlake - February
Enjoyed having the opportunity to play Timberlake again. Though the grass was still in its winter dormancy, the layout is a great challenge
Great friendly staff who make you feel welcomed and appreciated
The greens are in need of being completely redone, looks like sand traps on them. For the shape they are in they need to charge 20 or less to play. I usually don't write reviews, but had to on this one.
Nice Layout
We have played this course a couple of times now. The course is challenging but fair. Given that it's in the middle of the extremely flat coastal plain, there is some elevation change and lots of mounds, shelves, etc.
The (6!) par threes are all reasonable for a bogey golfer, and the extra par five gives you more opportunities to swing away in the fairways. Will play this course any time we are headed to coast and can fit it into the trip.
Fun course to play
They need to space out the times in between teeing off. Felt rushed while playing. Overall the course was good for the money.
Fun course
This was a pretty good course overall. It had a nice layout and interesting holes. Most of the greens do have spots in them that have been lost and are being repaired. But the good portions rolled true. I would play here again.
Greens are terrible!
1st- the staff and course layout are great!
2nd -the greens are the worst I've played on all year. And this happens every year except this year. They are good in the spring and loose them in the summer. the greens did not come back after the tough summer we had.
they need to replace every green and put Bermuda champions in. they have bent grass now and it's not working.
if they don't replace them, they'll loose a ton, if not all business.
I won't play out the until they replace everyone.
Fun layout
It’s always fun to play Timberlake. There are a lot of optical illusions so trust your GPS. There are risk-reward options that are not obvious the first time you play the course, but there is always pretty safe option. The finishing par three hole is a fairly innocuous hole that seems to give everyone fits if they get casual or overthink it. I’ve seen a lot of single digit handicaps miss the green. Greens putt well. They had an issue with their irrigation system during a hot spell this year that hurt the greens, but they have recovered nicely. If the course wasn’t a 75-90 minute drive, I’d join in a heartbeat.
Great course for the money
The course was a lot of fun to play. The greens on the front 9 were in pretty rough shape, but the fairways were great. The mix of more par 3’s and par 5’s was different and made for an interesting round. Lots of the par 3’s played around 200 from the blue tees…not many short holes, which we liked. This course was a great value for the money! Definitely will be back.
Great Course
Timberlake is a great value for the money. The course is always in great shape and I consider it a treat to play.
Nice day nice course
Llocation works great to meet my son from Raleigh. The course has some really nice areas and greens while others need some work. Overall I like the course layout.
Not too bad
Overall, it’s a nice course. Some of the greens needed some love and had some dirt patches on them. The fairways were in good shape as well as the bunkers. I had a good experience and will most likely play again.
