Even in the off season, it's a great challenging course
I play this course several times during the regular season. I was pleased to see the greens are still rolling very good even with it being the off season.
Given it’s only February and course is still in a “winter” (off-season mode), course in good condition and enjoyed playing on a 59 degree sunny day in February. Had some rain day before so fairways were a bit wet and understandably it was cart path only. Only negative was we played behind as slow- playing five some.
Great Greens For February
For winter golf, you can't find too many better places to play. The cost of $26 for a senior and you're on an outstanding Arnold Palmer designed course. The greens were truly outstanding for mid-February. They were smooth and fast. There is plenty of slope on the greens and with these fast greens, putting is difficult. You're going to have some three-putts.
The course received plenty of rain the day before, fairways were soggy and it was carts on path. The staff is always friendly and it is a great place to play.
Never disappoints!
Fantastic course great layout with a great staff that never disappoints. The best value for your money in the St. Louis area and the conditions are always good.
Spencer T
I hadn’t played Spencer T Olin in 3 years and I thoroughly enjoyed the course again, it is a fun challenging course. The course was in very good condition considering it was the end of November, especially the greens which were smooth and just quick enough. If you haven’t been there in awhile like me I’d get there soon and enjoy this nice public course.
Great Course
Course was in its usual phenomenal shape. Think the staff was short handed. Young lady working the bar was bringing carts up for the golfers. Lady behind the desk was helpful but at times was surly.
Great Golf Course
The course was in its usual fantastic shape. Lady behind the front desk was not too congenial. I guess they were short of help. The young lady working the bar/restaurant was pulling double duty with bringing carts up for golfers.
Aprons were in poor shape.
Beautiful day and wondered if they had more tee times than they should have. Pace of play was not good. A marshal would have been helpful to see where things were backing up. Waited at least 5 -10 minutes on every hole. Usually things open up eventually but we were not able to get the last two holes in and our tee time was 1:30. Should be able to play 18 in 5 hours, played another course in 4 hours the day before.
We followed a shotgun start touirnament and were not informed until we got there. The tournement was delayed because a previous tournenent ran long. Long story short a beautiful day turned into a 5 houir 45 min slog.
Nice course
Compliments to the team. Frost delayed tee times for about an hour and a half and they had an event scheduled in the early afternoon. Their decision to send the morning tee times off as a shotgun made it possible for us all get our 18 in with only minimally affected to the afternoon event.
Best Value For An Upscale Course In The St. Louis Metro Area
Spencer T. Olin was disigned by Arnold Palmer. It is an upscale course course that charges $52 on the weekend - which cannot be beat. Overall, the condition of the course is very good. The only exceptions are the sections of burnt, dead rough around most of the greens, Only 2 greens had very small sections that were rough (holes 2 & 16).
The place of play was not the best either. No rangers on the course. The computer at the snack bar seemed to not be working very well and slowed down the quickness of the service provided.
Go play Spencer T. Olin. You will not be disappointed.
Good condition, fast greens!
I’m new to the area and played this course for the first time. It’s immediately on my favorites list.
Great course, terrible pace.
Beautiful course, pace of play was absolutely terrible, needs marshals to keep things moving properly.
Great condition.
The fairways and greens are in great shape at this course!
