Nice surprise
On a whim jumped on a deal at this track and glad I did. Good solid course in better shape than some courses for much more money. Course was in good shape. Greens are a bit slow but overall enjoyable time.
Ill be back
PLEASANT SURPRISE
FAIRWAYS WIDE AND RECEPTIVE INTO RELATIVELY LARGE GREENS. GREENS NOT QUITE PERFECT YET BUT WERE QUICK. CAN SCORE ON THIS COURSE.
This course is sporty.
If you hit the ball long it helps, but you don't need it for this course. Greens are currently soft and a little slow.
Great conditions late October
Played a chilly saturday afternoon round here in late October and the course was looking good! The greens rolled true and the fairways were lush. Even with a lot of rain before the 90degree rule was in play because this course drains well.
With only limited people on course we flew through our round in 4 hours. The fairways are generous here yet bordered by a housing community. Some greens were huge and some greens were tiny so be sure to check pin placement. Overall Links of Carillon is a really solid track!
Love this golf course
This is one of those almost perfect golf courses that is challenging for the better golfer if you want to take on risk but very playable for the average golfer if you want to play conservative. If the greens were maintained better I would give it 5 stars.
The 18th hole is my favorite in the Chicago area with plenty of risk and reward. All par 5s are reachable in two with good tee and second shots but also allow for a 3rd shot wedge approach. Scenic with plenty of beautiful plants, trees, water and wildlife. Carillon is not a premium golf course but one of my favorites to play, especially for the price.
A well managed golf course
This is the second time playing at The Links at Carillon. It is a well managed golf course. Played the Red/White course from the blue tees (which was a first for me) and it was both difficult and very fun! I really enjoyed this course. Not to mention that you get a great bang for your buck. Tee boxes and greens were is great condition. GPS looked a little outdated but it does the job. Overall a great experience!
Beatiful Escape
Excellent weather plus wonderful course equals Beautiful Escape. They closed the red course that day so I played Blue-White. You can easily loose your ball in the high grass but I was lucky that day. Greens were a little fast that day maybe because of the weather plus they were decently maintained.
Staff was friendly. The 4-some in front of me waited for me before they started the back-9 to let me get ahead of them. Was informed by the starter when I asked which way was 1st hole of Blue course.
Will try to play there again before the golfing year ends if there's another hot deal with my golf buddy. So I can show him where I parred a par 5...haha
Nice layout
Fun course to play for any level of golfer . Played early morning in the fall and course was ready to go and greens were pretty dry from morning dew .
Fair test of golf but play is slow on weekends
My playing partner and I enjoyed the course and it's layout but that was tempered by 5 hour round and we did not finish 18. The obviously local groups in front of us felt no need ti allow us to play through on any of the first 17 holes. This is why golf is getting a bad rap. Play from the proper tees, play ready golf, and if you are still slow let us play through. We never saw a marshal on the course.
Needs a little attention
I play Carillon alot. I like the course, staff is always great...overall, a good value and fun to play. A couple of friendly observations:
1. This was a Sunday morning round and the areas around holes were very beat-up, like these were the same hole positions since Friday.
2. Bunkers need help, desperately! Mostly dirt on the red course, poorly maintained. On the white, some are re-done, some are over-done (big tufts of grass in middle of bunkers, for what??) Put the money into the basics. Most are not maintained.
3. Cart paths are old with washed-out sections and tree roots pushing through....extremely annoying. No apparent effort to repair them or at least fill in the large holes.
Conclusion? Still a good deal but I'd sure direct my crew to do some basic maintenance of paths and bunkers and move the hole locations every day.
They might want to tear out all of the old asphalt paths and just mulch them.
Thanks for allowing me to voice my opinion.
The Course was in good condition
The course was in good condition given the rain it took on the day before. Greens were very slow and chunky.
Nice Round
Tees/fairways were pristine. Fairways were generously wide. Some greens were a little beat up and were rolling quite slow. I hate slow greens. Sand bunkers were in average condition. Could have been better. Water comes into play occasionally, but its usually a really bad shot that finds the hazards. Its definitely worth a visit with a hot deal.
Nice track
Live in the area but had never played here. It was definately worth it. Not the hardest course but still challenging and in good shape. Greens were a bit slow but still rolled pretty good. Only draw back is that some holes have houses close to the course.
great course
This is the third time that I have played this cousw this year and everytime I enjoy it more and more. Im not a great golfer but I do enjoy the sport.
Course vs. water
Course was in good shape .Greensalso great shape considering the amount of rain we have had. Only a few spots that had some water, but not bad Golfers need to repair their divets on the greens.
Excellent Condition and great value for $
We played Red White tees and the course is in really great condition. For $29 you can't beat the value. Fairways and greens were in very good condition. My only criticism is that some of the bunkers could use some sand and the cart paths are a bit rough.
Great fun
Great course for the price. Good conditions. Staff is great and I had a coffee and breakfast sandwich that was out of this world for $7 which included potatoes which were awesome.
Carillon is great
The course was in good shape, tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in good shape. Staff is very friendly and the brats are always good. Pace of play wasn't too bad, we went out in the AM and finished in about 41/2 hours on the Red/White course.
Good times
I got to play with a friend and two new friends we met on the tee. I usually play the white tees but they play the blues. I think I'll play the blues from now on. I thought the course was well maintained and the rangers were helpful and polite. I liked the course and I can say it needs strategy and not just brute force to play well.
Our goal is for all customers to be 100% satisfied. We apologize for any inconvenience and will look into the matter. Tee times are 8 minutes apart and policy is to have only foursomes tee off when possible. If you are ever dissatisfied, please let management know and we will make sure you leave happy.
