Richmond Forest Golf Club
About
Situated just north of Detroit, Richmond Forest Golf Course has a secluded setting among forests, ponds, and grassy meadows. The layout has eight holes routed along the seven ponds and nine holes that play through forests of beech, oak, and maple trees. There are nearly 50 sand and grass bunkers framing the mildly undulating greens, which makes proper club and shot selection the key to doing well on this course. Some fairways are open and others are tree-lined and there is also sculpted mounding and contours that make the pins tricky to approach. Good short game skills are definitely needed. It is a challenge at times but the wide fairways and large, varied greens present options for a range of skill levels. Richmond Forest Golf Course's 11th hole presents one of the toughest iron shots of the day with trees to the left and a pond to the right.

A good challenge in a country atmosphere
Excellent greeens with a variety of designs (some narrow, some kidney shaped, some huge). Watch pin placement carefully. Sand traps and cart paths could use improvement. Ran into a big backup on hole #15. Called for a ranger who promptly came out, spoke to us and was a big help.
This course has great value for the money.
Course is in very good shape, well maintained greens.
Great course with challenges for all golfers/ excellent value
A very well maintained course with a varied layout with challenges for all golfers. Excellent value.
Fun greens, course has 2 personalities...
This course is just a fun course to play. Nice greens with lots of movement and breaks. The front 9 allows for errant tee shots much more than the back as it transitions from pretty open, although water hazards, to woodsy. The rough isn't difficult to recover from.
All in all. Very fun course to play and the staff is very friendly.
the course in general was in good shape.
I played Richmond forest by myself. I hooked up with another couple on the back 9. They were very friendly and we had a nice outing would recommend playing here again
Pretty good value
This course is a pretty good value for the money. The greens are sectional so you really have to be accurate hitting into them or it will take two putts just to have a chance to make one. I would rate it higher but the bunkers have rocks in them. Not pebbles, rocks about twice the size of a golf ball that could really damage your wedges.
Great Value!
This is a little known gem of a course. The water is very challenging on the front nine and the back nine has hidden greens and traps. The course is beautifully landscaped to add to the experience and the staff couldn't be more friendly. Pace of play seems to be good. Great value!
very nice course, love to golf there
Slow play was due to delay - Frost that morning. Very well kept course and great price on Golfnow
Course is in great shape
This is the third time we've played this course this year and it seems to be in better condition every time we play it. The latest time we played we only shot 9 holes as that is all time allowed for us because of prior commitments, but we moved right along with no delays.
Solid course
This quickly has become one of my favorites. Course is always in good shape with very friendly staff. I would recommend Richmond to anyone. Couple of things that could make the course even better: pace of play has been an issue the course is usually not very busy but seems foursomes of slow moving seniors are bunched together. Probably regulars who think nothing of five hour rounds. A ranger visible once in a while might improve pace. Bunker sand is below average. Great course for the money.
Nice Course with some reel Challanges. Very good for the money
The course was in very good shape for so early in the golfing year.. Will play it again. Needs some of the hazards marked a little better. It was very enjoyable to play.
Interesting and well kept
Friendly and accommodating staff. The course is challenging, but not overly difficult, for the average golfer. Greens are in good shape . Tee boxes in good shape. Just enough trouble to keep it interesting.
nice
in very good cond for 2-2-12 wound like to try again in summer
A pleasant surprise
My wife and I went to Richmond Forest on December 1st, but even at this time of the year the course looked very good. The tee boxes are beautifully maintained. Greens weren't bad for this time of the year, either. We never heard of this course before seeing it listed on GolfNow.com. The course is surprisingly nice, and we'd love to see it in the summertime, so we'll be back then. There is lots of water on the front nine, lots of trees in the back. Challenging enough to be interesting, but not so much as to be discouraging. All-in-all, a pleasant experience. We'll definitely be back again in the spring or summer!
Two courses in one
The front 9 here has a lot of water, where the back has a lot more trees. Lots of fun.
Richmond Forest
It is always a pleasure to play here staff is friendly and the layout is good price is right and rounds are usually pretty quick 4 hours or less
Very nice course and in good condition. Will play there again
Beautiful course that is well maintained.Very friendly staff. Will play there again. The value is excellent.
love this course.
great value for the money. hardly ever crowded, which makes for a fun round. play from the blue tees is brutal but fun, like the 628 yard par 5 (yes 628). hole no. 1 is like 270 but not easy. hole 3 a 428 yard par 5 with water everywhere is lots of fun. bring extra balls.
Good couse for the money
Not a bad course. Laid back. Good for the money. Yes
