Richmond Forest Golf Club
About
Situated just north of Detroit, Richmond Forest Golf Course has a secluded setting among forests, ponds, and grassy meadows. The layout has eight holes routed along the seven ponds and nine holes that play through forests of beech, oak, and maple trees. There are nearly 50 sand and grass bunkers framing the mildly undulating greens, which makes proper club and shot selection the key to doing well on this course. Some fairways are open and others are tree-lined and there is also sculpted mounding and contours that make the pins tricky to approach. Good short game skills are definitely needed. It is a challenge at times but the wide fairways and large, varied greens present options for a range of skill levels. Richmond Forest Golf Course's 11th hole presents one of the toughest iron shots of the day with trees to the left and a pond to the right.

FOUND A GEM
THIS COURSE IS CHALLENGING. SEEMS TO BE A HIDEAWAY, NOT MANY KNOW ABOUT IT.
LOTS OF WATER , LARGE BUNKERS,PEANUT GREENS.
TAKE MY ADVICE & PLAY IT
Not to shabby
we paid $19 for this course. well worth it. we went early in the morning so the pace was good. didnt have to wait too long. there are a few tight holes that you must keep in the fairway. lots of water to avoid too. i wouldnt say this course is a hidden gem, but its certainly worth playing. the sand was in great shape as well.
Excellent Course; Friendly Staff
I really enjoy playing at Richmond Forest. It is a well kept course with nice scenery. The maintence staff does a nice job with the green, fairways, and landscaping. I really like it when courses take the extra time to have plants and flowers around tee boxes. The amount of water and sand bunkers makes this course nice for the seasoned golfer to have a challenging round. But the fairways are wide so it also makes it nice for the beginning golfer. The gentleman in the Proshop is very friendly. I found this course on Golfnow about 6 months ago and frequent it about once a week. The overall value is a great price. Would highly recommend this course.
This is a great course, just enough challenge for me.
This is always one of my first picks because of the fantastic value playing this course affords. Its a little far out, but to me its worth the drive. My only pet peave for this course is the almost flat tee markers, they are hard to see when you are driving up to the tee boxes. Great course.
Great variety of holes
Has five signature holes, needs a great amount of thought and shot shaping, club selection is very important and speed control on the greens.
Great value
Old-style design. Tightly routed holes, therefore easy to walk. Fast, undulating greens. Long golf course if you play from the tips. Will test all aspects of your game. Seek out discounted play. They do frequently offer very reasonable rates. I would like to see different pin positions on the weekend. They always seem to be in the same place. A bit boring. The shapes of the greens lend themselves to some great pin positions... though I never see them use them. That's all I'd change.
