About
Situated just north of Detroit, Richmond Forest Golf Course has a secluded setting among forests, ponds, and grassy meadows. The layout has eight holes routed along the seven ponds and nine holes that play through forests of beech, oak, and maple trees. There are nearly 50 sand and grass bunkers framing the mildly undulating greens, which makes proper club and shot selection the key to doing well on this course. Some fairways are open and others are tree-lined and there is also sculpted mounding and contours that make the pins tricky to approach. Good short game skills are definitely needed. It is a challenge at times but the wide fairways and large, varied greens present options for a range of skill levels. Richmond Forest Golf Course's 11th hole presents one of the toughest iron shots of the day with trees to the left and a pond to the right.

Great value for money
The course took an hour to get to from Troy, but it was worth it for the price. The only gripe we had was some of the yardage markers appeared to be off, like the 150 marker at the #3 hole. It would help play to have more accurate markers. Aside from this, the course condition was very good. Greens were well maintained, and the staff were friendly.

Good Course for the $
This is a decent course for the money. Not usually over booked. Some challenging holes and some birdie holes as well. Generally well maintain. Greens in average shape, a bit on the slow side.
Nice laout
The problem was after we finished the front nine they were having everyone start on the back which there was huge backup to play so we had to play the front over again. Green were ok
Nice course, up north feel at home.
With exception of a young ranger that was clueless, I was very surprised, well taken care of course, pleasant on the eyes.
Short but fun
Played Richmond Forest for the 1st time. Nice course that gives you good chance to score well. Only 3 sets of tees. Course plays 6600 to 6700 from back tees but less than 6100 from the middle set. Would like to see a set of tees in between in the 6300 range. Lots of room on most tees shots. The greens were okay but would like to see them a bit smoother. Would definitely go back.
Excellent value!
I had never played the course but I was looking for something different at a reasonable cost. The course wasn't super difficult but a fair amount of water makes you think. Many greens were huge and rolled fair. Anyone under a 12 handicap should play from the back blues. The drive to New Haven was a hike but for the price and moderate challenge, I will be back.
Excellent golf club
This golf club was great to me. The landscape of golf club was excellent. It was a little bit difficult to me but I had lots of fun. I really recommend Richmond Forest.
NICE Track
Have played here since the place opened. Will ALWAYS come back at least a few times a year, as layout is a Good challenge.
Fun day of golf
If you haven't played Richmond F in 5 or more years it time to give it a try again. The course has grown up well. Greens rolled nice and fairways and roughs were cut well. Nice mid week course can get around in 3.5 to 4 hours.
Slow going
What a disappointing experience.... They must have over booked the course that day as they have in the past. It took 3 hours to complete 9 holes of golf!!! The lady behind the counter was a bit rude with me when checking in, and their carts are always filthy dirty. I have to wear junk clothes for fear I'll ruin an outfit.
Overall a disappointing experience!
In the future, this will be my last choice.
Worth The Drive!
Well maintained course with a variety of considerations for each hole's play. A couple of holes were surprisingly challenging, while a few others rewarded your good shot making with sub-par scores. The starter and rangers kept things moving but were not overbearing. This is a beautiful course out in the middle of farm country. Give it a try I am sure you will not be disappointed.
Over booked 5 1/2 hours to play 18
40 minute wait after scheduled tee time, over 51/2 hours to play 18 holes!!! Course was in fair shape just a long long round of golf.

great course, but double booked
the bad - tee time was at 11.08, tee'd off at 11.45, there was no starter or order, plus the carts need some maintenance.
when the starter arrived after the train of carts reached the parking lot, he gave no solutions & said yeah we're really busy????
the good - the course layout is very nice & great value ($23 with cart.) the greens & fairways were nicely groomed & maintained.
will play again, but midweek to avoid the crowds

Good course
Played this course on a Saturday last minute. Course was stacked , though played well. Some tough holes. greens didn't look great. though they played like a 5star course. Staff was friendly Great value for the price. Plays longer than it seems. With sand traps and water.
