About
Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown boasts the title of "best public golf course" in Delaware. The course has a links-style layout that is challenging but still player-friendly enough to appeal to beginners, seniors, and juniors. The layout is wide open and quite forgiving but there are still plenty of hazards with which to contend. There are more than 50 strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course. Their thoughtful placement makes up the bulk of the layout's challenges. There are ponds that come into play on six holes as well as tall native grasses that appear along the fairways and greens. The wind is often a factor on the course too and will test your accuracy even further. Frog Hollow Golf Club's par 3s and par 5s are manageable but the par 4s will test even the best players.

It’s made a strong comeback
Considering everything that happened With the irrigation failure last year, this course is definitely on the right track. Played after a night of heavy rain so fairways were very soggy and bunkers unplayable. Tee boxes were getting chewed up As were the greens, but this late in the season, can’t really blame them. I’m glad they’ve put in the work to get it back to decent playing standards. If they continue to put the TLC over the offseason, this course should be in real good shape next year.
Slow, slow,slow
Took almost 5 hours. 1 foursome backed everyone up. No ranger to be found. Course Just aerated, could live with bumpiness, if didn’t have to wait on every hole. Course was mushy In a lot of places. Fun layout.

Slow as you go
The pace was extremely slow. The two young men in front of us went very slowly & kept searching for lost balls. When they got to a water hole, they spent an inordinate amount of time receiving balls from the water. They apparently do not know golf etiquette. They should have Marshall’s going around to help with the pace of play.
I never played the course

Fun course to play
I have played this course since early spring 4 or 5 times. Overall fun course to play. Forgiving fairways mean you do not lose many balls. Course is in good shape and compared to courses above the canal - it is a great value for what you get. I was playing rounds in about 3 hours in the spring but the pace has slowed down to about 4 to 4.5 hours on a weekend in the summer. Probably due to cart path only the last 3 times I played the course. The course drainage seems to be an issue so any heavy rain during the week results in cart path only on the weekend and slower rounds. Despite that I definitely rate this course high and recommend play

Overall, the course price was a great deal for what you received in return. Staff was professional, and friendly for the most part. The course was in good shape and the pace of play was above average. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to get a round of 18 in for under $30 on the weekend.
End of the season!
Still holding up for end of the season, sand on some tee boxes but still playable. We’ll play it until we need both gloves. Great value!!

This could be a long review, stay with me.
Years ago they switched the front and back 9s to stop players from coming off 18 and going back on 10. In my opinion, that really messed up the flow of the course. Holes 13 - 18 are the toughest stretch of finishing holes around! So glad they changed it back a couple years ago.
Today we came around the turn and noticed 2 new people in front of us. So now we had to wait for them to get to the green before teeing off ourselves. When we got to the par 5 11th, they were waiting in the fairway again!! We called the pro shop and they sent the ranger out just as we were coming off the tee. We let him know it was us that called and thanked him repeatedly for the fast service. He went to the green and took them off the course. Friggin AWESOME!! That is the 4th star.
The course is still a bit rough. Don’t believe previous reviews of bunkers. Some are good, most are ok and up
To you to play out of if you want to try. 20%-25% are terrible. Tee boxes are 70-30 poor with lots of sand. They had some insane pin positions today, and the greens were quick. Rough in spots but played well. Played 9 holes coming out of COVID restrictions and noticed improvements. Again, the finishing stretch of holes here are great. Over all a very solid layout. I have been playing here 15 years or so and know how good this place has been and can be. Thank you again staff and keep working hard to get frog hollow back to 4 plus stars like I remember.
We finished in four hours but always waiting for a very slow group of three ahead of us
The sand bunkers were deplorable and appeared untouched for quite a while
The greens were in great shape
The fairways were good shape considering all the rain this area has had
Tee boxes were passable
Overall a very good challenge placing the ball on your shots.
I would return because I enjoyed the course and good value for low cost
