Frog Hollow Golf Club
About
Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown boasts the title of "best public golf course" in Delaware. The course has a links-style layout that is challenging but still player-friendly enough to appeal to beginners, seniors, and juniors. The layout is wide open and quite forgiving but there are still plenty of hazards with which to contend. There are more than 50 strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course. Their thoughtful placement makes up the bulk of the layout's challenges. There are ponds that come into play on six holes as well as tall native grasses that appear along the fairways and greens. The wind is often a factor on the course too and will test your accuracy even further. Frog Hollow Golf Club's par 3s and par 5s are manageable but the par 4s will test even the best players.

Course in good shape, bunkers need work
The fairway and greens were in good shape, but the bunkers needed sand. Pace of play was a little slow but ranger did ask group in front to speed up around the 7th hole and it did improve
Greens are better than last year
The course still needs work, but that’s what happens when the prior owner lets thing go. Bunkers need work, but greens are in good shape. Clubhouse menu could use more options, some salads.
Challenging but fair course!
Course is well maintained; traps are being renovated; all in all an enjoyable round.
Unexpected negatives
Very bad hitting area at range, horrible Matts
Too many blind landing shots off tee
Worse sand bunkers, sand not conditioned ,hard pan!
No marshals to keep up play .. hence 5 hours plus
Didn’t inform players their round involved a wedding occupying 1st hole in the middle of round ... never saw anything like this before! Really
To be fair, a very decent track
This course should NOT be getting 4 stars at this point.
good course and improving
Frog Hollow has always been a nice course, but it is now improving with the new ownership. Most of the course is in really good shape and they are working hard to improve it, especially the sand traps. It is nice to see all the work they are putting into this place. Staff is all very friendly too.
If there is a better bang for your buck
I wasn't sure what to expect as it is under new ownership. Never fear, it is still a quality golf course with one of the best closing holes around. The other 17 holes ain't all bad either. It is part of a housing development but I kind of like seeing the different style houses along the way and different ideas for backyard landscapes.Well worth the 50 plus mile drive to play. Will return soon, hopefully before gas hits 3 bucks a gallon.
Wasn’t impressed
Starter was rude, and the service sucked. They aerated the greens and didn’t have a warning about it when booking. Drove over an hour to get there, and it wasn’t worth the asking price. I would rather sit in shore traffic during the summer and at least play a course in good shape with friendly staff. I have played Seaview for less than what I payed for Frog Hollow, and I wouldn’t ever pay their asking price again.
Still needs a little work, especially pace of play
New ownership is at work but the sand bunkers, in-particular have a long, long way to go. Greens were great, as usual, though they had just been aerated and top dressing had blown out of most of the plug holes. Biggest qualm was the pace of play - 5 hours. Lots of people shouldn't, necessarily, translate into slow play.
Great layout, plenty of challenges
I really enjoy Frog Hollow. The course is well designed and quite challenging. The staff is welcoming, food was excellent, I will be back.
The course lay out was very good. Loved the topography and different looks of each hole
The greens were just aerated, but if not I could imagine the greens as quite challenging, fairly large and contoured
The only negative is that all holes are surrounded by pretty close packed homes and had to drive through the community to get to some tee boxes
Great Day for December
The rain held off and the course was in great condition. We came in a little early and they were Very accommodating. Looking forward to going again!
Getting better
Last time I played, things looked rough. This time, it’s what I expect for frog hollow. Everything in above average shape. Especially for this time of year. The course had quite a few wet areas that caused my ball to plug a few times, but fairways were in nice shape and the greens were a lot faster then anyone would expect. Again, everything I expect from frog hollow.
