About
Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, Del., is a 145-acre public course, billed as a “natural treasure.” The 18-hole championship course gets the moniker thanks to its surroundings -- the ancient forest of White Clay Creek State Park. The 145-acre play, acquired by the state of Delaware in 2005, is a par-70, 6,323-yard golf course that features rolling terrain, smooth bent grass putting surfaces and scenic vistas. The mix of memorable, distinctive holes adds to the difficulty, as does the memorable, heavily wooded setting and dramatic elevation changes. Before or after your round at Deerfield Golf Club, enjoy the large putting green, full-service practice range, or lighted tennis and paddleball courts.

Great time
I used to play this course when MBNA owned it and I must say you have kept the course in great shape over the years. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a challenge.
Nice course and difficult
Decent greens. Staff is super friendly. Prices can be high but sometimes you’ll find a reduced rate or Hot Deal which can make all the difference. Your ball will be on an Uneven Lie 95% of the time, that being said, the course is extremely hilly, due to its northern DE location. Makes for a fun time.
Good Value
Good value for golf. The course is not for the faint. Addressing the ball usually alway above or below your feet. Many holes are blind shots. Well worth playing if you like a challenge.

Professional staff, excellent facility, nice range. Course is in great shape for the end of August. Time to refurb cart paths...
Deerfield is a challenging course
Very hilly course. Alot of sloped fairways. Management need to cut back some of the tree branches hanging out into the fairways. Bunkers were horrible. No sand in most of them. I also played with a ginger and 1 of us shot a 125. Made for a long day…
Good course
Fun course to play, with a lot of challenging shots because of the hilly terrain. It was cart path only because they were holding an event the next day and the starter “yelled” at me for parking the cart right off the path so people could get by. Think he should have been worried about the guys driving up the fairways 🤣🤷🏼♂️. I’ll be back and would recommend.
Uneven Lies
If you are looking for flat and easy hitting surfaces for most of your fairway shots, then do not play here. there is a 80% chance that most of your fairway shots will have the ball above or below you feet with multiple different angles.
Great Round of golf!
Course was in excellent shape. Pace of play was good for a weekend. Course had more elevation changes than used to playing but made it a fun round. We waited some, but overall groups were moving very well. Rangers were going round to keep everyone on pace, and the beverage cart was there numerous times to keep us "hydrated". All the staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the course, will try and play here again!
Deerfield Golf Club: two thumbs up!
This formerly private course is a real treat. The conditioning and presentation were excellent. Little things like drinking fountains on the course are welcome. Great terrain so it makes for a good walk. Friendly staff. I'll be back sooner rather than later.

The course was in excellent condition and greens were in great shape. The staff were very nice and helpful
A very challenging golf course
Many left doglegs and right doglegs holes and a certain slope, so it is not easy to hit the ball on the fairway, there will be different results every time. so interesting and challenging.
