About
Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, Del., is a 145-acre public course, billed as a “natural treasure.” The 18-hole championship course gets the moniker thanks to its surroundings -- the ancient forest of White Clay Creek State Park. The 145-acre play, acquired by the state of Delaware in 2005, is a par-70, 6,323-yard golf course that features rolling terrain, smooth bent grass putting surfaces and scenic vistas. The mix of memorable, distinctive holes adds to the difficulty, as does the memorable, heavily wooded setting and dramatic elevation changes. Before or after your round at Deerfield Golf Club, enjoy the large putting green, full-service practice range, or lighted tennis and paddleball courts.

Uneven Lies
If you are looking for flat and easy hitting surfaces for most of your fairway shots, then do not play here. there is a 80% chance that most of your fairway shots will have the ball above or below you feet with multiple different angles.
Great Round of golf!
Course was in excellent shape. Pace of play was good for a weekend. Course had more elevation changes than used to playing but made it a fun round. We waited some, but overall groups were moving very well. Rangers were going round to keep everyone on pace, and the beverage cart was there numerous times to keep us "hydrated". All the staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the course, will try and play here again!
Deerfield Golf Club: two thumbs up!
This formerly private course is a real treat. The conditioning and presentation were excellent. Little things like drinking fountains on the course are welcome. Great terrain so it makes for a good walk. Friendly staff. I'll be back sooner rather than later.
Nice round
The course was in excellent condition and greens were in great shape. The staff were very nice and helpful
A very challenging golf course
Many left doglegs and right doglegs holes and a certain slope, so it is not easy to hit the ball on the fairway, there will be different results every time. so interesting and challenging.
A very challenging hill course
The course is very beautiful and the service staff is very enthusiastic. Most of the fairway are uphill or downhill, so how to keep the ball in the fairway is very challenging and the green is fast. It's just that the before group of twosome played a little slowly with a set of clubs. anyway，we will play this course again.
Horrible Greens
I've been playing Deerfield for about 10 years and always liked the challenging layout. However, the greens now are basically unplayable. They are a pale light green with very little grass on them, hard as a rock, and crazy unfair fast. Course plays very slow due to most golfers three putting often.
The new management has all but ruined the greens which used to be nice until this year..
I do not plan on returning anytime soon,
Great Conditions
Really enjoyed my round here. Course is in really good condition, greens are receptive but fast. Played on a Tuesday afternoon at 4:20, got around in 3:20.
Deerfield shines again
Wonderful round at Deerfield. Course was playing fast, both on the greens and pace of play. Such a hidden gem, which is why I'm conflicted giving it such a good review. Everyone will want in. However, they earned the praise!
