Bowes Creek Country Club
About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

Nice course
Pros-
Fast play
Decent price
Cons-
Greens were a bit slow
Holes not tamped down correctly
A gem in Elgin
This course is just beautifully maintained.despite 3" of rain the night before, and cart path only until we the 7th hole, was still in excellent condition. Greens we're still quick despite being wet, and fairways dried quickly. The play was slow because of the cart path only restrictions and the fact the heat index was 100* and humidity almost unbearable. Strategically placed fairway and green side bunkers keep you on your toes. Always enjoying playing this course.
Everything was great
range is free with golf, nice restaurant and bar very pretty and challenging holes
This is good
I have played a lot of the courses in Illinois and I have to say that Bowes is among the best. The fairways are ample and the greens are some what large and undulating. There is plenty of sand to protect the green and fairways. Enough water to get your attention on scatter shots. If you want to find out haw good you are and try this one on for size.
course is well maintained
Only problem is they need to post more signs where next tee is, hard to find sometimes
Great experience.
This was my first round at Bowes Creek and I found that the clubhouse, course conditions and layout as well as the pace of play were excellent.
Great layout with terrific green compilations
Wonderful daily fee facility with a country club feel. Great driving range and practice areas. All service staff on the course, 10th hole halfway house and restaurant treated us well too.
Great course.
Challenging course.Great conditions. My new favorite Chicagoland golf course.
Great gem in Elgin!
This was the first time my wife and I played at Bowes Creek. We never knew it was out here! The course is in great shape and a very fair course. The scenery is very nice and we plan to be back soon. Great rate on Golfnow.
Chicago's Best
I have golfed throughout Chicago, and this is one of the best courses I've golfed.
Excellent Day
The outing was fantastic. Very friendy staff, beautiful course and good food/beverage. We all agreed that we would come back as we all had a great experience.
This course has great features
Extremely happy with the overall course condition. The condition of the sand traps is some of the best I've played this year.
Always a good round here
Love golfing here. If i can afford to play here more often I would.
Love this place!
Any chance I get, I'll play this course. Great facility, fantastic course layout, and a wonderful staff.
Excellent value on a great track!
Got out to Bowes Creek for the first time yesterday and loved it! Will certainly be back, played 27 and was met with friendly staff everywhere, a drink cart girl that actually made her way around the course, and very clean facilities.
Nice course
Course was nice, but many ball divots on the greens. I was repairing them as much as I could, but there were several. Otherwise, the course is very nice and challenging. Green were quick. Bunkers very tough. Links style course.
Beautiful Lay-Out, Beautifully Maintained
Absolutely fabulous course to play. I have played all over the Chicago area, and Bowes Creek is about as nice as it gets. The layout is fun and challenging, and everything from the tee box to the greens were in perfect condition.
Nice!
Beautiful location and views. Course was in excellent shape, but the greens were "merely" good. I teed off right after a large outing had finished, so I can assume the greens are usually in better shape. From the tips, the course isn't overly long, but the length of the par 3's more than make up for it. Unlike many good courses, your best chances for a birdie are on the par 4's. Be patient. Stay away from the British Open style rough, it's almost impossible to find your ball. Also, bring mosquito spray for the back 9. I can't wait to go back and do it again.
One of the Best in Chicagoland area
It's quite a distance to drive but it's worth every single dollar & mile you spend. Challenging fairways &
One of the Best green condition in Chicago area. GPS is very good one as well. Our top choice to play whenever we can over all other top courses in Chicago area.
Frankly better than The highland of Elgin, Thunder hawk, Stonewall orchard, Cog Hill (2&4, yes dubsdread), Cantigny, Glenn club, Mistywood, orchard valley, seven bridges, Bolingbrook, Harborside, Pine Meadow, George Dunne, Klein Creek, Makray Memorial, Prairie landing, to name a few.
Go play & find out yourself. Only one minor issue is a lot of Mosquitos so protect yourself.
Happy Gilmore
Bowes Creek
Great coarse. Great facility. Great staff. Poor golf etiquette by golfers. The greens are riddled with ball marks. I'm not sure how to address this ... Maybe Bowes Creek can add $5 to the cart fee and in exchange include a high quality ball mark repair tool. When you come back, if you show your Bowes Ball Mark tool, you get a $5 discount off of your cart fee?
