Bowes Creek Country Club
About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

challenging
Large fast greens and perfectly manicured fairways. Alot of sand and hazards. Had a great time.
Great course, as advertised.
Course was in excellent shape, course staff was helpful and friendly. Links style course for the most part, a couple holes had trees that come into play. Hitting it straight is a premium on this course, plenty of trouble on this course if you are not having one of your better driving days-but still fair. Some elevation changes on several holes, especially on the back nine. Great course!!
Bowes Creek Country Club
Just a well manicured golf course with many attractive / targeted / well placed bunkering throughout the fairways and around the greens. First time playing this track and will definitely play this course again. The restaurant provided a wide selection of beverages and entrees / sandwiches / finger foods at the conclusion of an enjoyable round. The threesome played the round in four hours.
Highly Recommended
Bowes Creek is simply a fantastic facility and overall experience. Although it's fairly expensive for a weekend rate, watch out for a golfnow deal and you will find it well worth the money. The course is fantastic, unique, challenging for all skills levels, and a treat to play everytime. It's no coincidence I've played my best golf of the year at this course
A Top Course
Bowes Creek is an excellent course for the above average golfer. It is extremely challenging with course layout, water, sand traps, long carry over marshes for the guys & on some holes for the ladies as well as the long fescue that can swallow up your golf ball. The beauty of the course as well as the surrounding area makes you feel as if you are vacation in some secluded area. It is very well maintained with an extremely friendly staff. This definitely is a "Top 10 Course".
Review
Facility was nice, the course lay out was very nice, very scenic, but the pace of play was just absolutely ridiculous. minimum 10-20 minutes between holes 5+ minutes of waiting between shots. The pace of play makes this place not worth playing.
Very nice and challenging course in the Chicago Burbs
I played this course when it opened in '09 and forgot about it. Saw a good deal on Golfnow and played it again in '14. If you are not about a 15-20 this is probably not the course for you if you are seeking enjoyment. It is very scenic and definitely challenging. We played as a foursome and were paired with two golfers in their late 30's early 40's. My friend is late '50's and I'm middle 60's. One was a legit 5-10 and could hit it a ton and straight. The other could hit it a ton and sprayed it. He used a 9 iron on a 165 hole to give you an idea of their length. For me this was not a good pairing as I struggled to keep up with them. My accurate driving (for the most part) kept me in the game but just barely.
I would play this course as a 2 with someone you regularly play with. You will love it but again it is really not forgiving. About 135 slope from the Whites. About 140 from the blues, one step up. It compares favorably with other good courses in the Chicago area and would recommend it if you are a good golfer or want to challenge yourself. Its pretty way out so be prepared for some travel.
All in all a very good time. Will try to go back every year for a round. Nice clubhouse. So
So service.
Bang for the Buck
Grabbed some friends from the city on a nice day. We all wished we planed on 36. Will go back again for sure.
Magnificent
Play this course! It's a drive from the city, play early and beat any traffic up there. Not inexpensive but worth the dollars especially if you can take advantage of the "member for the day" status and play a second round gratis.
So much fun!
We take advantage of the all-you-can-play option. This is a very fair course, in great shape and the greens are superb.
Every hole is interesting and beautiful. There are dramatic elevation changes, with tees that provide stunning views. A very entertaining layout.
The staff is super friendly and if you are hungry, try the turkey wrap at the turn, it's really good.
I would play here every week, if I could. Worth traveling 60 miles to play.
Great condition and very good pace of play
Overall great place to play. Greens are a challenge to read with subtle breaks. Back nine in particular has very interesting holes. Course has lots of elevation. Tough par threes. Stay out of the bunkers.
Course and staff was amazing
From the time u drive in I was WOWed. Compliments to the staff. The course was in pristine condition. Definitely coming back!
One of Chicagolands Best
very good will play again. Would recommend not to miss this course if playing in Chicago.
Excellent Conditions
The overall conditions were impeccable. From tee box, to fairway, to green, to hole, everything was accounted for. Had a lot of fun putting on these greens, I could actually putt how I wanted to, compared to a lot of greens this year where you just have to blast it straight at the back of the cup. I'm not a fan of sand, yet, I had little difficulty playing out of these. I didn't have to worry about striking some large boulder hidden in the trap. Highly recommend this course, twilight(3:00) $35. Yeeeeep!
Fathers Day golf
Always a tough challenge, a little slower than usual; since it was Fathers Day but not terrible. Greens were very, very, quick
stay out of rough
Beautiful scenery and lots of fun. Stay in the fairway, rough is tough.
Bowes Creeek - Member For A Day
This course is an excellent value for the money if you consider all of the ammenities it has. The rate is an "all you can play" rate which includes unlimited use of the range and cart with accurate GPS. You can essentially play 36 holes for approx $45 at a semi-private course. The only issue I have is I wish the greens were kept in better shape. This is not saying they were bad but I think they could have less pits and be better maintained considering how the rest of the course looks. Overall an ecellent value!
Great Course
Course was in great condition and plays very fair. Bad shots do not get rewarded. We played for $53 which was an incredible deal for the "member for a day".
Bowes Creek
