Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

Nice course.

Bowes is a value at $49 per round. Condition is acceptable at that price point. If they are going to charge $90, then the condition of the tee boxes and greens will need to be improved. It's in good shape, but not pristine. It is a pretty course with plenty of challenging holes. All around nice golf experience for the money.

Porter's Pub has great food and plenty of beers on tap and bottle, for a nice 19th hole experience. You've got to order the pretzel. You will not believe it! It's bigger than a few of their greens!

One of the top courses we have played and enjoyed not only because of the challenge but it is beautiful.

Beautiful course that keeps your attention with the challenging holes.

the layout of this course is fantastic. Lots of fun.

I've played this course several times and have always enjoyed the experience. The course was in great shape and I've actually played when the greens were fast and the course was pristine. I will continue to play here whenever I can.

bowes creek

Great course in excellent condition. Very playable, yet challenging. Pace of play was slow. Only other complaint was a poorly stocked beverage cart and halfway house.

Great Value

The course was well designed with nice use of elevation change, water features and prairie grass. Fairways and greens are well maintained, but more public course than private club condition. Overall a great track for the money.

Nicely maintained course, but bad bunkers

Very well maintained course, and some interesting and challenging holes. The only problem is their bunkers are pretty bad. They have the long 'links style' grass around many of the bunkers, but the problem is their is no sand in the bunkers. There is more long grass than sand, which is silly. Other than that, a nice place to play, and you can get some good deals on GolfNow. Really nice staff.

Never disappoints

Whenever I have to decide where to bring clients or friends/family I can always count on Bowes Creek. The staff is courteous and professional, outstanding practice facility, and the course is always very well maintained. Great value for a great course.

Great play. You will enjoy

Nice layout. you can easily use all your clubs in your bag. I have played several times and the conditions have improved. Greens were quick and rolled true but noticed the club championship was played recently. Will play again for sure

Glass tops

Greens were in great shape and very true, fast but not unforgivingly so. Few pins set on the slope so you had a fighting chance to get up and down. Placement is definitely a must and some of the carries were a challenge. Pace of play on a Sunday was not an issue and for $55 via Golf Now, a great deal. The course offered a $15 replay but you need to get started on that before 1500, otherwise you are contending with a bunch of twilight players. I will definitely return and leave time for the pub/restaurant, which I hear serves great food.

great layout, if you haven't played a course with this designer make sure you take the opportunity

A very fair test for the bogey golfer. It allows the opportunity to string together a few pars and gives you ample opportunity for birdie chances. The greens roll wonderfully. Look forward to having the opportunity to play again

Very nice course

The course and staff were fantastic. You could play the course from different sets of tees and feel you are playing a different. The GPS in the carts were the best I have ever seen.

4 1/2 stars Fun track and great facilities

Bowes Creek honors you with the country club experience - range balls and practice chipping area included /beautiful interior to the pro shop/clubhouse and a screened in halfway house with bar. Excellent GPS system on golf carts. Course is well maintained, has a good amount of trouble and several beautiful well designed holes you have to play strategically to score well. I've played here many times and pace of play thankfully hasn't been much an issue. This is not a high handicapper/novice course but unfortunately many still insist on playing the blue tees here. Only drawback is the cost (thus the 1/2 star deduction)....but you definitely get what you pay for with a hot tee time deal on Golfnow!

Great Course Value Private Country Club Service!

Course is very playable. No tricked up holes. Good Condition. A few of the tee boxes a bit overplayed but other than that everything was a great value. Private Country Club with very nice staff. Worth the cost.

Two distinct nines. I enjoyed the back nine a little more.

Very enjoyable experience. The back nine has some forced carries over wetlands, and has more hills. The front nine has a little more water.

Great Track

Bowes Creek has a great layout. From the elevated tees to the fast but true greens, it will challenge you on every hole. Watch out for the many steep, fescue lined traps!

Great course

Really enjoyed this course. The practice facilities were great and very nicely spaced out. There are 5 sets of tee-boxes for all level of golfers. Everything seemed very well run and organized. Pace of play was great and the cart girl always seemed to get to our group at the right time.

Stay out of the bunkers! There are about 50,000 of them and they are "eyebrow" bunkers.

Great course

Bowes Creek is a great course and if I lived closer to it then I would make it my home course. There are a lot of holes that challenge your game and make you play the smart play rather than long play. The greens are tough and on a Tuesday they had Sunday pin placement. That was my only complaint is that some of the pin's were placed in a difficult spot but that's why we play the game, to get better.
