Bowes Creek Country Club
About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

Bowes Creek review
Staff are awesome. Food is excellent. They even brought our food out to the course when we ordered in the bar between rounds and had to head out.
Good maintain
I think very nice course to play for everybody.
We had fun and very satisfied.
If I have chance to play again, I'll definitely do that.
Strongly recommend this course.
Good Value Overall
Bowes Creek is a good value. We played as a twosome on a drizzly, cold day. Our 1:20 tee time was the to go off all day. We played under cart path only conditions and finished in 4:00. The course seemed to drain pretty well but was still wet after heavy overnight rains. The greens had been aerated but were missing top dressing (possible washed away from rain). Golf cart GPS system is top notch and very user friendly. Nice course. Nice experience despite the weather.
killer everything
Beautiful course and facilities. ..stocked driving range...awesome clubhouse...great course..big fairways ..strategically placed bunkers...unbelievably true greens. Enough said.
Great day on a fine course
Had a wonderful day on the course which was in great shape considering the winter we had. Great value for the money.
Solid as usual
Always great facilities with great amenities before starting your round.
The only downfall this time around was a slow group ahead that was quite obviously a paired by the course group. 2 younger gentlemen drinking with 2 older non drinking gentlemen. Not a good mix.
But the venue did not disappoint as usual.
Primo place-Tough
Played solo in 2.5 hours.
Great course.
Tough.
All day play available.
Too Expensive - for the early season
Much to expensive for the season and shape of the course. We were told by staff, we have not done anything to the course. It could have been $50
and a wonderful day. $70 p/p (x4) still and we spent another $80+ in the bar.... 4 brats and drinks
Member for a day is great!
On a colder and drizzle-filled day, we decided to head out as a foursome and check this course out. I read the reviews that there weren't many leaves on the ground at Bowes Creek, and that the course was in good condition in late fall, both of which were accurate. Despite the weather being on and off rain, the course held up wonderfully! The course layout is really nice and has some great scenic tee boxes.
They offer a "member for a day" deal so you can golf as many holes as you can in a day. Because of this, I feel the pace of play is quicker. We played 34 holes in about 6 hours.
This course is now in my top 3 in the Chicago area, which includes much more expensive courses, including Cantigny.
Beautiful layout spaced out around homesites.
Great design with some challenging short par 4's. More of a links type course but there are some established trees that shape some holes. Bunkers well shaped and surrounded by shaggy grass.
Great experience.
Beautiful course, well designed with many undulations in fairways and awesome bunkers. Premium placed on shots to well protected greens.
Best of the West
I worked my way around the northwestern Chicagoland suburban links this year hitting Whisper Creek, Golf Club of Illinois, Chalet Hills, Foxford Hills, Red Tail, Mill Creek, Blackstone and Oak Grove. All good clubs. Bowes Creek was my favorite. Great practice facility. Beautiful course that incorparates the natural topography over all 18 holes. Greens were firm, fast but fair. From tee to green the course was pristine. It had a U.S. Open feel to it. The best part is that your greens fee is all day inclusive. So book after breakfast and go practice. Then play as much as you like and practice some more at the end. Well worth the trip and the money. The 19th hole is almost as beautiful as the course.
Easy to stay in the fairways
"Golf Now" made it possible for me to play "Bowes Creek". Glad I had the privilege of playing it this fall.
Thanks "Golf Now".
Solid Chicago course
Course was in good condition for mid October. Greens were not punched yet. Course was challenging from the tips. Only plays 6900 on the card... Don't take that advice. Especially when there is wind. You will need your driver on every par 4 from the tips. 2 par 5s are reachable however. Beats Cog Hill (Ravines), more challenging than Harborside Intl. also half the price late season. Definitely recommend this course and expect to be back. Fallback is they are 1:20 from the city....
Great deal and great course!
The course is very nice. The fairways and greens were in very good condition. We picked a great day to go. The morning started off cold and the temps increased throughout the day. They allow you to play as many holes as you like, so we ended up getting 32 in and no one was out due to poor weather in the morning. Course has water and quite a bit of sand to make it challenging. I'll be back!
great course
Course was in great shape, mid Oct no leaves, greens a little slow but nice like playing Galena at home
Very scenic & challenging layout!
Played 27 holes there this past weekend, what a GREAT & Challenging layout, not to mention the great fall prices they offer to lure folks in. Overall this place is pretty top notch; starting at the front door w/the greeters & GPS “smart” carts, followed by the (free) range, moving to a great design & laid out course, topped off by the all you can eat golf! OMG, desert was at Porters & that place was top notch too. Get the pretzel you won't be disappointed.
PS..a word of warning, while it’s tuff to complain about; it’s fall & the all you can eat golf WILL catch up to this place if they are not careful. The greens were getting a bit trampled along w/some of the fairways that were squishy in sections due to some drainage issues they seemed to be combating. Have fun & get it while you can…not many of us can afford 90$ t-times! Keep up the great work Bowes!
Excellent golf facility
Nice club house with good amenities. Golf course is great and the staff was very friendly.
An amazing course for flatlands of Illinois.
I could not believe I was still in the suburbs of Chicago. Amazing views, lots of elevations. Very spread out, you hardly see other golfers on most holes. Challenging course, with some unique tee box views. A must-play course if you live in the Chicagoland area.
Bowes is a Great Time!
It's been a while since I played Bowes Creek and it won't take that long until the next time. Bowes is a wonderful course with fun holes and excellent facilities. I paired up with another GN user and we had a great time while playing very quickly (one group let us through). The course was in very good shape, greens were slightly slower than I like but completely acceptable. The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Overall, I would always recommend Bowes Creek.
