Bowes Creek Country Club
About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

Nice layout
A year this course was in pristine condition and the greens were the best in the NW suburbs. Not so today, the course is beat up and neglected. the rough is overgrown and you rarely see anyone working on the couse. The pro shop staff is not very friendly and the sense is we are a disruption in their day.
over all view
This course is beautiful. The holes are spaced properly with plenty of room between tee boxes. Staff outside was very friendly.
A little pricey for what you get
Bowes Creek is a really fun course to play. It's a challenge, but presents many opportunities to attack the course, but each comes with a good deal of risk. Course management is a must. The starter, on the day we played, really rushed us to the tee box and then wanted to spend 5 minutes explaining course details, so we did not know what to think. The proshop folks were fantastic and the staff in Porters Pub were warm and engaging.
Outstanding
4.8 out of 5. The only blemish were the tee boxes, a little chewed up.
A Nice Deal If You have the Time
Bowes Creek offers some bang for your buck if you have the time to invest. The greens fee includes free range balls (ok - they're Pinnacles, but they are round and white) and a very nice grass tee area. A "fairway bunker" practice trap would a nice addition, but that's a minor quibble. They do have a separate pitch/trap practice area which features a deep green-side bunker. The putting practice green itself was very smooth (even after some rain and a Saturday morning's worth of traffic). The course played right at 4 hours on a Saturday. Rangers are out there to keep things moving, and there is a drinks-cart... Nice track with multiple tees to meet any handicap/skill level
A Real Gem in the Northwest Suburbs
I brought my girlfriend on Sunday and it only took her a few holes to realize what a great course this will be to share with her Thursday afternoon ladies group. She will be booking 2 foursomes in the near future as it is well worth the drive from Hinsdale, IL. I use this course for customer outings as they too are impressed with both the beauty and the challenge.
The greens and course is in awesome shape
This course has everything you want and more when it comes to the fast greens, wonderful views from each tee box, and the fairways kept in excellent shape.
Great course but they need rangers to keep people moving.
Course is in immaculate condition. Very challenging, but 10 holes in a role we pulled up to the tee box and the foursome in front of us was on the box with no one in the fairway, and no one on the green.
Course is in great shape!
I got a great deal from Golfnow for 30 bucks on a friday afternoon, and it was well worth it! The grounds were maintained beautifully, and the staff was very friendly. Nice driving range, with the balls all ready for you. Prairie style course, with lots of fescue and bunkers. Fairways are extremely wide, but dont let that fool you. Wind here is a major factor, and elevation changes play a large part in yardages.
Excellent Course
From the time you arrive the service is great. From the bag drop personnel, counter help in the pro shop and the starter all go out of their way to make sure your day is what you expect from a quality club. Driving range, chipping area and putting green were in excellent shape. The course itself was well manicured and the greens were in great shape and quick. If you’re looking for a challenging course with character this is a course worth trying.
Perfect Greens - Fun Course
The course was in perfect shape when we played early in the morning in July.
Pace of play was great...but it we tee'd off before 7am.
My only concern would be some of the bare spots throughout the course will likely erode and get worse as the season progresses.
The staff, minus the starter marshall, was incredibly helpful, professional and courteous.
Definitely one of the nicest courses in the area!
awesome greens
County Club member for a day is a great way to play! The place is in fantastic condition and the greens are amazing
All around great coarse!
Value for money is great cause I found real good deal on here! Free range balls all over practice area! Best practice facility I have played at. With range, chipping green with a bunker and large putting green.
Just not impressed
Play was much longer than it should have been for any course let alone one that boasts a more exclusive type atmosphere, but I liked the track.
loved the target course. very challenging & gorgeous.
i would play this course often and bring other golfers to enjoy this course.
One of my favorite courses ever
I'm an average golfer, but I've played many great courses over the years and Bowes Creek happens to be one of my favorites. It's a terrific layout, challenging, but fair and as peaceful and serene as they come. The staff was great and the carts have one of the best GPS systems I've ever used. Can't wait to return.
Absolutely beautiful course!
The most beautiful local course that I have ever played... hard to believe your in South Elgin while you're playing....
Great challenge, stay out of bunkers, fast play during week
Played on a Tuesday afternoon, began at 2 ended 4, then took advantage of $15 extra for unlimited golf. Played 2nd 18 alone in 2 hours by jumping to open holes. GPS very accurate. Best to use hole views to see yardage to bunkers as some holes deceptive. Very enjoyable day!
beutiful and challenging
overall course was absolutely beautiful, very challenging. the only problem was slow play, every hole is a challenge where you can lose a ball. players who have a high handicap need to not look so long for there ball drop and hit another. I myself is someone who can either hit it straight, left or right however when I played on Monday was fairly straight. greens unbelievably fast four putted #9 was 12 feet away WOW! my overall experience is a 10 cant wait to come back.
Absolutely a beautiful course. Would like to see tee times spaced out a bit more.
Worth the trip. Beautiful and very challenging course
