Bowes Creek Country Club
About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

Great Course.... Golf Now Savings is deceptive
This is a great course, however the Golf Now Discount shows a $19 savings off the regular day membership which is regularly $98 for unlimited play and access to practice facility. There is a disclaimer on receipt and also informed at Couse that the Golf Now price is only for 18 holes and that for an additional $15 you get the unlimited play benefit....... After the Golf Now processing fee for this Course, the actual Golf Now savings is about 13 cents.
I generally like Golf Now, Love Bowes Creek but will never use Golf Now to book this one again....... Although I would have paid 13 cents more.......... The increased availability of Tee Times would have been worth the 13 cents.
I will and have recommended this Course, but will recommend booking it direct with the facility and for them to not be deceived by a bogus savings reflection for this course on Golf Now.

lot of fun!
interesting track... great fun!!
Tough, tough bunkers!
Great Chicago area golf course!
Terrific course, especially from the back tees. My only complaint is that every time I've played it, the tees have been in the EXACT same position.
Course is fair but challenging, great practice facilities
Bowes Creek is a great addition to the Illinois golf scene. Free driving range and additional practice areas give you more for your money than other surrounding courses. I really enjoy this course. The bar afterwards is fantastic as well with a nice line of craft brews.
The facility has great amenities
At the bag drop you are greeted and your bags are taken to a golf cart. You have the choice of practicing on the range or your short game out of the sand and on the practice greens. It has the feel of a private club. The clubhouse is very nice and staffed by great people.
Great track.
Lots of fairway and lots of hair off fairway. Challenging course!
Play the appropriate tees!
Very underrated gem
Great course and belongs in the conversation of top tier courses in Chicago. Although must be played from the tips if you can handle otherwise gets real short off the tee. Course maintained fairly well although didn't drain well from recent rains. A veritable must play course for Chicago golfers
Best course around
This is my favorite public course in Illinois, just spectacular. It really doesn't even feel like you're in Illinois with the surrounding natural beauty, it is picturesque. Also incredibly maintained, and the rest of the facility (clubhouse, driving range, practice areas) are top notch. Best course around period.
One of chicagolands best
Best public course you will play. Great course, clubhouse, range and staff. Definitely going back
Challenging but FUN
Getting there I got lost again by relying on the GolfNow App "get directions" feature. I left my house with 30 minute allowance as the app directions indicated. I got lost! Hope the app will enter the address instead of coordinates so android GPS will recognize it better. I had no other options but to rely on it since the printout of my confirmation does not have the address details of the course.
Called GolfNow and told them of the situation and they relayed message to proshop. Talk to proshop and told them this is my 1st time playing there, they were very understanding.
This is where the GolfNow number is so important to have in your cell phone speed dial. They were able to fix the problem for me and my golf buddy.
The course is as described, "semi-private and pristine" The greens are clean and maintained. The fairways are scenic, clean, challenging but fun. Their GPS assist you not just with the distances but also with electronic scoring that you can e-mail afterwards to each player on the cart. Thereby saving you time to enjoy more golf.
The staff are excellent in assisting and making sure you have a fun outing. I'll definitely be back and will try to book here again specially if I have visitor from out of town who wants to play.
I highly recommend this course.
One of the best golf courses I have played.
Greens are v.v. fast. Bunkers are tuff. V. friendly, all you can play it's worth the price.
Very Fast Greens although they hold well
This course is a bargain. Great range, chipping and practice green. Big greens and landing areas. Greens can be tough to read for a novice golfer.
It's ALL good - and worth the drive!
This is the first time I had played the course and I will be coming back. The Golf Now deal included unlimited golf, range balls, and a cart with GPS. Ended up playing 27 holes.
The staff was very friendly and courteous.
Now for the course. 5 sets of tees and the tee boxes were pretty flat, although a few holes had a noticeable grade to them. The greens are some of the fastest that I have played on in a while. The greens rolled true and were very smooth. The sand-traps were in good shape and had some character with fescue growing a little taller on the upper lip of most holes. Not an exceptionally long course and you are playing target golf on a few holes. The GPS system in the carts had a touch screen so you could indicate the landing area where you thought you wanted to be. It would then calculate the yardage to the landing area as well as the remaining yardage to the hole. Many holes have either water or protected wetlands, so one one side is out of play.
I suspect once the lots are sold around the area, the club may go private, so go now while the going is good.
It is Bowes Creek, it is a wonderful course!
As we all know Bowes is expensive but the price includes unlimited Range and chipping. The course is beautiful and doing great this rainy season.
Great facility
Bowes Creek is one of my favorite places to play. Upkeep is pristine, great practice area, awesome pub, good food, and challenging golf. Wish I could be a member!
Bowes Creek never disappoints.
I drove an hour with my son to play BC, and the starter allowed us to go off as a two-some. Though we paid $55 each to play, this included practice balls and unlimited golf. This course is worth the commute for a number of reasons: holes which are nestled within a wetlands area, forgiving fairways, expansive distance among the holes, breathtaking views, and a very upscale clubhouse. I plan on playing it again next week....
Very good
Well maintained. Great practice range with hippie and sand trap!
great course! Long but not terribly. Great fun!
Large fairways make on most holes give every player an equal opportunity to make a run at par. Greens are fast but true. A fair test for all skill levels. Driving rangearea is top notch with chipping and putting greens and a driving range for warm-ups. staff is extremely friendly and willing to go the extra mile. Great course, good fun.
Bowes Creek is a great course!!!
This golf course was amazing, I will be back with family and friends.
Really? Free chipping? EVERY course has that. Free range? Most, nowadays, do that as well. They are marketing something relatively new. Not special, but new.
I have played this track many times. Bottom line:
1 - They are marketing something knowing that MOST (read: 95%+) people won't play more than 18 holes. Chipping? Range? Doesn't cost them more than a dime per person.
2 - A really nice course, I'll give you that, but not worth the price if you only play 18. For 98 bucks, I can think of 20 other courses in the area that I'd rather play at a lesser rate.
3 - When are courses going to understand that green fees are related to rounds played?
4 - Value. I just don't see a ton of it here.
5 - Private? I can't see this one going that route, especially with the surly staff in the grill room.
