About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

This is one of the best courses in the Chicago area if you have not yet played here it is a must
Great idea of member for a day!
I have always enjoyed playing this golf course! Super friendly staff, along with a pretty golf course! This member for a day concept should be adopted by many golf courses. I wish I lived near this course so I can join!

This is a great course that is pleasing to the eye. There are lots of elevation changes, hazards and sand traps that make it challenging.
The staff was friendly and the starter was very friendly and informative. While Bowes Creek isn't a terribly long course (we played from the blues at around 6400 yards), it requires accurate shots. The carts have nice built-in GPS systems that give accurate readings to the pin placement and front/back of the greens. All of the fairways, greens and tee boxes were in great shape, though it is the beginning of the golf season so there hasn't been much play.
The front nine is challenging with a lot of hazards and traps. The back nine is significantly shorter than the front, but requires even more accuracy and course management. The greens all rolled nicely and were quick.
If I had any complaint, it would be that they put sand traps in the middle of a few fairways.
Some golfers may not appreciate the forced carries on a few holes, though I tend to enjoy the challenge.
Overall, I love this course, I just wish it was closer to my home. It's a great deal for the $65 I paid through GolfNow, though I'm not sure it's worth the $100 regular rate. I think $80 might be a more reasonable price for peak hours/days.
Great course layout
A wonderful experience every time i've played here. This course brings back the way golf courses used to be. Courtesy range balls and practice facility, excellent golf carts with very modern GPS, and extremely courteous staff. Excellent condition especially for it's age. Greens and fairways look like they have been there for 10+ years.

Premier Golf in Western Suburbs
This course stacks up with anything a private country club could offer. The greens ran 10-11 (fast) and true with immaculately manicured fairways and very few soggy areas. With all the rains last week, that was impressive. The course is challenging from the white's, nearly championship level form the blue's and I can't imagine what the champion tees must be like. Lots of water and sand, narrow fairways but forgiving rough. Great fun and highly recommended.

Course almost empty. We played quickly which was great. Course in good shape for this early in the season.
Course is great Food service disappointing
The course and facilities are great. Unfortunately at the turn around 2:00 I went in for a sandwich. All they had was one turkey wrap for $6.50 and it turned out to be only half a turkey wrap. When I complained they offered me a soft drink.
They should have given me my money back and apologized.
I'll still play the course and be sure to eat before I get there.
Well done Bowes Creek
Kept hearing good things about the course and decided to play it this past weekend with some friends. I couldn't pass up a deal for $44. The course was in solid shape, which was surprising due to the ridiculous amount of rain we had this week. Bowes Creek offers a nice challenge and a beautiful layout. The course is littered with links style bunkers that truly serve as a hazard if you hit into them. A nice perk is the top notch gps system that is included in the carts, which allows you to find exact distances to not only the pin but each hazard and landmark as well. Overall it is probably the nicest semi-public course I have played around this area and it rivals some of the nicer country clubs and private courses in the area. I highly recommend it for those looking for a challenge and don't mind spending a bit extra.
Very nice course
The staff were very friendly and the course were in good condition even after a huge thunderstorm a couple days earlier. Practice range was free too, definitely coming back.

definitely one of the best public courses we have been on. Well kept, friendly staff, nice carts with GPS, nice club house, good food.

has everything that you'd expect from a great golf course.
great lay out. i've played this course before and i find it to be aesthetically beautiful and challenging at the same time. free balls for the driving range as well as the chipping area makes this a superior value. i always recommend this course to serious golfers. keep up the good work.
Very interesting layout with many traps

Great course for the money
The weather didn't help as it was windy and raining but overall the course was great. it challenged you and rewarded you for making good shots. Will be back for sure.
Some excellent views on several holes
Got a late start due to frost, but that is to be expeced this time of year. The course is in good condition and worth playing again.
