Bowes Creek Country Club
About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

Great track
I have played Bowes several times and really like the course. The conditions were a little rough yesterday, but in the fall it was sort of what you would expect. The problem i have with Bowes is that some rounds the pace of play can be less than 4 hours or longer than 5 hours.
Great Course!
I've played here before and really enjoyed it. Very challenging, but very fair! Would definitely recommend this course to any golfer!!!
Great facility
The practice area and clubhouse were very nice. I liked the layout of the course. A little beat up for a "country club".
Member for a day program should be extended to those who book through Golfnow.
overall great course.
Challenging but fair. Great shape. Terrific staff.
Bowes Creek is everything that a golf course should be...
From the friendly staff, I recently lost/dropped my wallet there and they found it and held it for me without anything missing, to the details of the course - Bowes has it all.
You can enjoy the driving range without purchasing balls or a token and the driving range itself is set up very nicely. Then you can go over and practice out of bunkers and around the green to work your short game. After that you can walk over to the practice green and putt a few to get your feel of the speed of the greens and then you should be all set to go.
As a member for the day, you can easily get in a round, eat lunch and then get back out there to square away your golf fix and play 36. the score is up to you as they offer up three sets of tee boxes for men, as the middle and back tees present a pretty good challenge. Just thinking about the layout of the course makes me want to get out there and play.
I live in the city and would have to say the drive out to Elgin to play this course is well worth while.
Beautiful condition and excellent course... Will play again...
I love Bowes Creek and play it when there's a discounted rate.
Don't let one bad apple spoil the review....
This was my home course this year, so I got to know everyone there. I made it my home course this year because of the course difficulty, the staff, and the course condition. The course and staff were top notch (other than the guy at the turn grill who is the typical young kid who doesn't think he has to fill your order when you place it). Don't understand why such an exclusive club has someone with an attitude, that would negatively affect the customer's experience. Maybe you can have rating cards with staffs names and make them voluntary and anonymous.
Great layout
Very nice layout, summer drought has taken it toll on some of the greens. Nice "member" for a day rates. Nice Pub for after rounds drinks or food.
one of the best in Chicagoland
I play golf at least twice a week and moves around the courses
Bowes Creek is absolutely one of the best course under $100
I played 5 times within 2 months and that is very rare for me to play same course.
Great Layout, Fast Greens
Bowes Creek is a very nice course, with a beautiful (albeit young) layout and fast greens. The course has suffered from poor condition lately (probably due more to poor player etiquette than the course staff, ala divot and bunker repair, etc.), but overall is a tremendous test for golfers of all skill levels.
Nice course for the price
This course has the feeling of a private course. The holes are challenging and the greens are well kept. If you tee off early enough you can get in 36-72 holes
Best value for a championship in Chicago
The member for a day option or standard 18 hole fee, not only beats the likes of Dubsdred and The Glen, but revivals their conditions remarkably. For $100 you can play unlimited golf, have the most up-to-date GPS, and play at a pace you could only find at a private club. It's worth the drive
Great facilities and course conditions.
Wow. This course was fantastic!. The facilities rival many PGA facilities that I have been to, just Gorgeous. Cant wait to play Bowes again!!
Great layout, but not worth the full green's fees unless you take advantage of the day rate and play more than 18 holes. Some of the greens need time
Great layout, range, and staff...But the course needs time to mature and a few greens are burned out and a little bouncy...
Fun Course
This is a challenging course with fast greens and running fairways.
Private course feel to it without the attitude.
When GolfNow.com posted the tee times for Bowes Creek, I got a foursome together, booked it(at a fantastic price) ,and after using the great practice areas, went out and played the course for the first time. I got on the first tee and immediately liked what I saw. Everything about the hole was laid out in front of me, from the trouble to the safer areas to play to. It was like this the rest of the way. The carts they had, had the best GPS I've ever used so you could get the exact numbers you needed to play the right shot. Even with my strategy I managed to find a few of the hazards. Those fairway and greenside bunkers are beautifully designed, but swallowed up more than a few of what I thought were decent shots. Lots of water and fescue I had to stay away from also. Fast, but fair greens let me make a few putts. Conditionong of the course was superb, and the pace of play very good. I think we finished in just under four hours on a Sunday morning. All the staff we had contact with were very friendly and helpful, plus when you're done, the restaurant/bar has great food and drinks. Bowes Creek clubhouse/proshop also is one of the best I've ever seen. Really a first class golf experience and can't wait to get back here.
Great layout, fun and great staff.
Excellent driving range and practice facility. Course can be as challenging as you want. Very scenic course and well maintained.
