Top Notch Public Course
I go out of my way to play different public courses throughout NJ; and I don't know how it took so long to play here.
It's just about as good a public course experience as you can have. Definitely a little on the pricey side, but totally worth it.
Pro shop, driving range, starter, pace of play, layout, conditions... they are all A+.
Some memorable holes, they test most facets of your game, and the greens are as true as you could hope for.
Definitely a top-20 public course in the state.
Winter Golf
Awesome place for winter golf! Course conditions were very good even after snow/rain. The layout is awesome and challenging at the same time.
New clubhouse is great awesome service by everyone!
On a Warm Day Early February
Heron Glen does golf management justice! One of the warmest days in February 2019 with a thawing effect (expected cart path only ruling), and the course priced their tee times PERFECTLY!
Other surrounding courses priced as if it was a normal spring day!? The course was in decent shape, and I'm certain it will be to perfection once spring arrives, as always. NEW golf carts with USB ports have arrived. The clubhouse, with their exceptional staff, and new Pro Shop are a class act. I can't wait for the new season!
Great course.
I was fortunate to join up with 3 other players that were very patient with some of my miss hits.
I definitely will be playing this course again.
Side note.....Putting is KEY!!!!!
nice fall golf day
great day for fall golf. nice course and layout, always fun playing heron glen.
Wet but Playable
Played the days after 2 brutal days of rain. We were cart path only which is never great, but hooked up with 3 good guys and made a good day of it. The greens were very soft and receptive even if the fairways didn’t give you any roll. The greens rolled well and the leaves were only a problem on a couple holes.
Great job! I will be back!!
always a good time at heron glen
Very blustery during the entire round calling for supreme control on most all shots. This course has got to be one of the best tracks in this area. From tee to green ,not a blade of grass out of place. Also a great hot deal rate.
Gem
Can’t say it’s a hidden gem any more but this place is great. Rained overnight but the conditions were still great and the course drains well so we were allowed to go 90 deg. New upgrades make this place hard to book, so book early.
Very nice facility
Overall, this is a very nice facility. There's a grass range (can we upgrade from those yellow range rocks though?), a large putting green with plenty of different areas of slope.
Head pro was on the range for a TaylorMade fitting day and I chatted with him briefly - really nice guy and very knowledgeable when it comes to equipment.
The course is very fair - it's all right on front of you at Heron Glen. Most holes are framed nicely for a particular shot - and you'll be rewarded if you execute it. The main defense is the greens, which have some slope and speed. Several of the greens - 5, 8, and 16 come to mind - are quite large but divided into segments that makes the target play small depending on the pin location. 11 is a great short par 4, and 18 is a wonderful finishing hole. There is plenty of space to play golf here, and the course won't put up too much resistance from the whites or blues unless you are really wild off the tee. (Black tees look like a different story, as they will bring several forced carries and stretch out the par 3s, although I haven't played the tips.)
Course conditions are as close to a private country club as you will find. Greens roll quick and true, bunkers have the perfect amount of sand, and the fairways are smooth.
Great experience
We were visiting from the UK and chose this course because of its good reviews. We weren’t disappointed at all. The reception we received in the pro shop was good and the course itself was lovely, very interesting holes and in great condition. We played with a couple of local lads and they showed us where and when to layup as some holes have ravines in front of the green. Overall this was a lovely day out in the NJ countryside.
Course is great
Very good course but at the 8th they have the call in and order food for the turn...they had a voice message! Ordered but no food! Very poor!
Heron Glen is the place to play
The course character varies from the various tee boxes available. Always in a great shape, with rolling fairways, and true greens (let's continue to fix those divots, and ball marks people and it'll remain beautiful). The staff is very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The new Clubhouse is wonderful space to relax, enjoy good food with a full bar, and enjoy the aftermath of a good day with friends. The Pro Shop has everything a golfer would need to play, and dress for the round or talk golf. Job well done in Hunterdon County!
Great test of golf
Choose you tee box wisely. As a single digit handicap, the blue tees offered quite a challenge. The pin locations were in spots that offered the golfer a challenge to shoot at. Proper placement of shots allow for good scoring chances on this well manicured greens.
Tough course
It rained on n off and the course handled the rain really well. Can’t wait to get out there on a clear dry day. New Pro shop, clubhouse and dining facility. All in all good day
Loved it
My first time playing this course. I was excited because of the good reviews and I was not disappointed. Course was in fantastic shape from tee to green. Great open layout but punishing nag at times if you miss the fairway. Greens rolled well. Staff was nice. Played as a twosome between two foursomes and still finished in just over 4 hours. Really enjoyable course!! 100% will return.
