Tahoe City Golf Course

About
Tahoe City Golf Course is a municipal course that offers one of the most affordable rounds in the area. Opened in 1917, the club served as a popular hangout in the 1950s for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bob Hope, and Sammy Davis Jr. These days the course serves as host to the annual Two Bills Memorial Golf Tournament. The nine-hole layout has tree-lined fairways but their wideness allows some room for error. The bunkering is minimal but strategic and there are some mild undulations that can be tricky. The golf course is player friendly enough for beginners but still provides enough challenges to appeal to seasoned golfers who are looking for a quick round. Tahoe City Golf Course is especially appealing when compared to the high rates that you'll find at other nearby courses.

Tahoe City 9 Hole
Enjoyable course but a lot of the course was under maintenance. There was different greens because of work being completed. We weren’t made aware of this before the round. We hired clubs which were good quality. The greens were in great condition. The fairways and surrounding areas were poor.
2 out of 9 holes OUT OF PLAY
As ridiculous as this might sound two of the nine holes that I paid for on this course, we’re totally unusable due to construction. There was no allowance made to play two extra holes and no refunds given. Do not play this course. It is a rip off.
2 holes are completely closed!!
Do not play this course now. There are two holes out of the nine that are completely closed. So you pay full price for seven holes and they won’t let you play two extra holes or get a discount on the course.
Cool course
We knew the course was under renovation for drainage.hole six and nine were closed. Rest of the course was OK fortunately they discounted the price, still had fun though thank you.
Under Construction
Tahoe City is under construction this year. They’re closing 1-2 holes at a time, but also 3 of the holes that were open had crews working with big loud equipment. Tee boxes were long and patchy, ice damage on 9 green. I’ll try again next year.
What A Fun Day!
Such a great course to play a fast nine, and then have the remainder of the day to shop and eat in beautiful Tahoe City.
Five star friendliness on a three star course
Considering the other golf courses in the Tahoe area, this one is strictly for a couple of hours of recreation and not championship golf. It’s a short nine holer, but it does have two par fives. If I’d wanted something more serious, I would have chosen differently.
I thought that the sand and water features made the course trickier than average, challenging enough to offset some of the lack of distance. Also tricky were the greens, at least for me. Lots of tilted greens that made putting less than straightforward but in a somewhat fair way. ( If I remembered where the darn lake was, it would have made sense.)
Friendly staff, with a very “ at home” feel. I can imagine the locals popping over to play nine and having a beer there after work. Overall, it fit its purpose and I left happy that I’d played there.
Challenging
Beautiful, tough course, fast greens, nice sand in traps. Super friendly staff.
Very Nice Day
I enjoyed my day at Tahoe City Golf. Low key, course in good shape, pretty easy layout.
