Old Greenwood Golf Course

About
Old Greenwood, host of the 2020 Barracuda Championship on the PGA Tour, is widely regarded as one of the best public courses ever designed by Jack Nicklaus. It features a beautiful mountain backdrop in the High Sierras, winding through an exclusive neighborhood of homes. Tall pines line its twisting fairways. Deep bunkers and water hazards guard demanding Nicklaus greens. The facility, part of the Tahoe Mountain Club, is also home to a golf academy with one of the best practice facilities in northern California.

. Hard golf course.
If you’re up to a very challenging golf course, it would be the place. I am a two handicap and I didn’t find it to be very much fun. I like the opportunity to score when I hit good shots.
Old Greenwood
Going through a remodel
People were great got there late not really sure about the amenities.
Pace of Play
Wonder why I was waiting 20 mins on the 12th tee. At one point there were 4 groups on the tee box. Apparently there was an 8-some ahead slowing the pace to a crawl.
Course was good but slightly overpriced due to it hosting a PGA event. Staff was great. Probably won’t play it again due to the pace of play issue.
So nice I played twice
Great course, great range. Expected more of a clubhouse/bar/restaurant for the price.
Players course with some benefits to keeping the ball below the hole. Be careful of the false fronts.
Great course if you bring some patience with some great views, the back nine and the front nine present different types of challenges with the front nine being more tight and playable, and the Backnine, being more of a shot makers and risk takers Haven. Make sure you practice your chipping and putting especially dialing in your soft hands around the greens. You will find a bunker.
Play where the pros play
Played this one a couple days after the PGA event. I was amazed at how much they had already torn out in just a few days. The course was lush and beautiful. A fun layout. The rough was still insanely thick from the PGA event (congrats Akshay). The clubhouse is getting renovations done and the grill was closed so we had to eat from a super overpriced food truck out front. Definitely a must play if you are in the area. Great logo and great gear in the clubhouse as well.
Incredible Golf Course
I really enjoyed this course. they were about two weeks out form a pga event so the course was in great shape. It's challenging and a little course knowledge comes in handy. The greens and fairways were phenomenal. It was pretty expensive to play $235 but worth the experience although Im not sure I would pay that much again to play it unless it was a special occasion. I think it's worth $120 or so all day.
Gorgeous and challenging mountain course
I played on day two of the course being open for the season and it was already in excellent shape. The greens were firm and medium-fast. The fairways were tight and the rough had not grown much yet.
Overall, this is a challenging course with some good distance if you like to use your driver.
The only bummer is that they are renovating the clubhouse so food was from a food truck outside and it was not great. A cold hot dog is what I got. The drink cart came by twice though.
Beautiful Course
Very fun course and in perfect condition. Would definitely play here again if in the area.
Always a pleasure
Love this track. Greens lighting fast today, loved it! Played in under 4 hours!
Golf trip
Course was beautiful and great shape. Very challenging course, some picturesque 3 pars
Was a great treat to play this course. Chris the marshall was super nice and helpful
Will play again when back in the area
